2025 Marion Business Awards

The Marion Business Awards are well underway, with strong engagement from our local business community. All nominated businesses have now been contacted and invited to take part in the program, and we are excited to share that the awards have officially moved into the submission stage.

The next phase of the program will give the public a chance to get involved. Public voting will open in October, providing residents with the opportunity to support their favourite local businesses and help shine a light on the people and organisations making a difference in the City of Marion.

The Marion Business Awards celebrate innovation, resilience, and community spirit, and we look forward to showcasing the outstanding talent and dedication of our local businesses as the program continues. We look forward to sharing the winners in future editions.

New labelling requirements - March 2026

The new South Australian labelling requirements for Australian Standard (AS) certified compostable food and beverage containers and their lids will come into effect from 1 March 2026.

For AS certified compostable containers to be exempt under the South Australian regulations, the containers and their lids must be: ‘Clearly labelled as, or otherwise marked in a manner that indicates that the product is either home compostable and/or industrially compostable’.

Also from 1 March 2026, the exemption for compostable containers with international certifications other than AS 4736 (Industrial Composting) and AS 5810 (Home Composting) will expire.

This means that from 1 March 2026, to be compliant under the South Australian regulations all compostable food or beverage containers and their lids, must be AS certified and clearly labelled. Products may have multiple certifications, however one of these must be AS.

A new guide is available to assist suppliers and businesses understand the labelling requirements. Learn more.
