Spacemaker: exactly 10 years(!) from idea to (real) impact😅 On this date, 10 years ago, Carl Christensen Anders Kvale and I started discussing the idea of Spacemaker: to develop a better way of designing cities. Problem is: completing urban projects take many, many years. So how do you measure the (real) impact from using Spacemaker? One of the very first indicators of impact was the first time an architect won a competiton because of the impact from using Spacemaker (confirmed by themselves and the client). This was in 2018. While we developed many other ways to measure and compare better outcomes in a simulated model during design stages, the real truth is defined by how the project is received in the market — whether it attracts people or not. And today, 10 years after we had the idea of Spacemaker, and 7 years after Aart architects won that competition, the market confirmed they really want to inhabit this area with an incredible market reception: 50% of the apartments sold on the opening day.
