Happy #GIS Day! Today, we celebrate how geographic information systems transform maps into action. From routing your morning commute to planning resilient cities, GIS is more than just cartography. It’s the engine that drives spatial thinking, turning raw data into real-world decisions. At Nearmap, we believe that accurate, up-to-date aerial imagery is the foundation for powerful GIS. AI helps us transform those images into structured insights like building footprints, solar panels, and more. Some highlights: 🔵 GIS Day started in 1999 through an initiative led by Esri, aiming to make geographic education more accessible. 🔵 It’s a global celebration, with educators, students, governments, businesses, and tech professionals showing how location intelligence powers everything from urban planning to emergency response. 🔵 When imagery, analytics, and GIS come together, we don’t just see maps, we generate actionable intelligence that helps us solve complex challenges. Whether you’re a GIS professional, student, or simply curious, today is your invitation to reflect on how spatial data shapes our world and how we can use it to make better decisions. Here’s to the power of place, precision, and possibility: https://lnkd.in/g-4Z2sfn #GIS #GISDay #LocationIntelligence #esri #Geospatial
