Online Survey for Mental Health Practitioners: How has the Coronavirus Pandemic Impacted your Life and Work?

Researchers at Phoenix Australia Centre for Posttraumatic Mental Health, based at the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Melbourne, invite you to participate in an online survey focussed on the COVID-19 pandemic impacts to mental health care providers. This is an international study, led by Professor Julian Ford at the University of Connecticut in the US.

The survey is anonymous and is open to all mental health care providers, including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, nurses, occupational therapists, counsellors, and marriage and family therapists.

The survey asks questions about a range of factors, including your demographics and your work and the impact of the pandemic on you and your work in providing mental health care. The survey will also ask questions relating to compassion fatigue and satisfaction, social support, experiences of past trauma, including exposure to abuse or physical violence, and your current coping, resilience, and well-being.

If you decide to participate, you will have the opportunity to repeat the survey every six months for a duration of two years so that we can learn about the pandemic’s impact over time.

There are no costs to you to participate and you will not benefit directly, but we hope the results will help us provide mental health practitioners with support in this and similar crises.

This research has been approved by the University of Melbourne Human Ethics Committee. The Principal Investigator is Professor Andrea Phelps, who you can reach by email ajphelps@unimelb.edu.au.
