Thanks to QCOSS for this Community Impact Award. It’s a meaningful reminder of the power of collaboration across community and homelessness services, working with shared data, shared responsibility, and a shared commitment to solve homelessness in Brisbane. A big thank you to our Brisbane Zero partners and collaborators, and especially to the frontline workers who, in the middle of a housing crisis, continue doing their very best to support the most vulnerable people in our community ✨ 3rd Space, Bric Housing, Common Ground Queensland, Brisbane Youth Service, Communify, Churches of Christ in Queensland, Institute for Urban Indigenous Health, Kyabra Community Association, Micah Projects, Mission Australia, Murri Watch Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Corporation, RFQ - Richmond Fellowship Queensland, Teen Challenge Queensland, UnitingCare Queensland, The Salvation Army Australia, Youth Housing Project, Youth Advocacy Centre (YAC)
About us
Brisbane Zero is a community-based collaborative project bringing together over 30 organisations to build public support and solvability to end homelessness. Reaching housing targets is a great start, but with an increasing homeless population, Brisbane Zero embraces Functional Zero as a more pragmatic approach to the problem. Zero for us means knowing people are going to be homeless – but doing what we can to ensure it is rare, brief and non-recurring.

✨ The Advance to Zero movement is growing in Queensland! This year, we've welcomed three new Zero communities: ➡️ CQ Zero (led by Roseberry Qld) ➡️ Sunshine Coast Zero (led by IFYS) ➡️ Wide Bay Zero (led by IFYS) Funded by CCQ - Country to Coast QLD, these communities are building momentum and deepening their understanding of people's needs and vulnerabilities. This is key to coordinating appropriate housing, health, and community supports for people experiencing homelessness. They join Brisbane Zero, Logan Zero, and Gold Coast Zero in strengthening collaboration and momentum to solve homelessness across Queensland – one person, one family, one community at a time. 👏 Huge shout out to Fabian Webber, Hayley Starr, Mason Connolly, Emma Christie and @Marianne Bell for the incredible work driving this forward! #AdvanceToZero #HomelessnessIsSolvable Resources in comment below 👇

Great forum hosted by The Lady Musgrave Trust, thank you for inviting us to be part of the panel 𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕’𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑺𝒊𝒛𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑺𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒀𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝑳𝒂𝒅𝒅𝒆𝒓?, exploring what success looks like for women with lived experience, service providers, and funders. A clear message emerged: Long-term, appropriate, and secure housing is essential to breaking the cycle of homelessness. We need to embed Permanent Supportive Housing models within our housing system. 📌 There are currently 479 families experiencing homelessness, with more than 800 children among them. We know we're making a difference because we’re using the right data to inform decisions, understand what’s happening in our communities, and advocate for systemic change. But also for making those experiencing homelessness in Brisbane visible within the system. But this isn’t just about numbers. It’s about people. Tamika, a powerful advocate with lived experience, shared what it was like to navigate a fragmented system after experiencing homelessness from an early age. Her voice is a reminder of why this work matters. Let’s keep building ladders that are strong, inclusive, and long enough to reach real, lasting solutions. And thanks to Julie Saunders for being such a great facilitator! Your guidance helped shape a meaningful conversation.
