“It was about capturing what it felt like to be there, all of us trying to manage something that was bigger than any one person.” Life-long resident of Dimboola and Dimboola Fire Brigade member, Melinda Heatley's art captured what words couldn't. “Apprenticeships are challenging – you’re learning on the job and applying that in real time,” Paul Santamaria, General Manager Infrastructure Services says, “For Maddison to not only overcome her accident, but recover and return to work and making such a positive contribution to the Corio DMO Workshop team is incredible. Working as a District Mechanical Officer is a physical role, and while we managed Maddison’s workload as she was returning to work, her perseverance and resilience has been a testament to her attitude – attributes that have been recognised with her selected as one of five finalists for Apprenticeship Employment Network, Overcoming Adversity Award. From me, it’s not just that she overcame the physical challenges of the incident, but that she’s done this in what’s typically a male dominated industry. We’re so proud of her achievements so far, and what we know she’ll accomplish in the future.” Read more: https://lnkd.in/gBwxrjKE 📍 Wadawurrung Country
