  • “It was about capturing what it felt like to be there, all of us trying to manage something that was bigger than any one person.” Life-long resident of Dimboola and Dimboola Fire Brigade member, Melinda Heatley's art captured what words couldn't. Her canvas depicting the Little Desert bushfire in January this year recently won first prize at the Dimboola A &P Society Inc. Show. Rather than a single moment, the incredible piece showcases a combination of scenes from the fireground. • “Apprenticeships are challenging – you’re learning on the job and applying that in real time,” Paul Santamaria, General Manager Infrastructure Services says, “For Maddison to not only overcome her accident, but recover and return to work and making such a positive contribution to the Corio DMO Workshop team is incredible. Working as a District Mechanical Officer is a physical role, and while we managed Maddison’s workload as she was returning to work, her perseverance and resilience has been a testament to her attitude – attributes that have been recognised with her selected as one of five finalists for Apprenticeship Employment Network, Overcoming Adversity Award. From me, it’s not just that she overcame the physical challenges of the incident, but that she’s done this in what’s typically a male dominated industry. We’re so proud of her achievements so far, and what we know she’ll accomplish in the future.” Read more: https://lnkd.in/gBwxrjKE 📍 Wadawurrung Country

  • Recently moving to the Mornington Peninsula, Jacqui and Michael Felgate are adapting to life in a high-risk fire area 🍂 Thanks to our friendly crews at Red Hill and Main Ridge Fire Brigades, the Felgates have been taking key steps to #GetFireReady 🔥 If you live, work or travel to bushfire risk areas throughout fire season, make sure you're prepared! • CFA is proud to support the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence. This year’s theme, UNiTE to End Digital Violence against All Women and Girls, reminds us that respect and safety matter everywhere, including online. Together, we can build communities and workplaces where everyone feels safe, valued, and included. It all starts with respect. #16DaysOfActivism

  • CFA sends our deepest condolences to our colleagues at SA Country Fire Service who have tragically lost one of their own, Firefighter Peter Curtis, in the line of duty. Each day, our first responders work tirelessly to protect their communities, and a loss within the community is felt by all. We stand side by side with our CFS colleagues in grief, and send thoughts to all CFS members, family and friends impacted by Peter's tragic passing.

  • Today is International Men's Day, an opportunity to celebrate the positive contributions men make to CFA, our communities, our families and workplaces. For Anthony Rhodes and his sons, Bailey and Cooper, volunteering with CFA is more than helping the community — it’s a family tradition. The trio reflect on leadership and resilience, reminding us about the strength that comes from compassion, teamwork, caring for one another and community spirit. #InternationalMensDay
