Financial abuse is a form of family violence. One that can be perpetrated using a range of business systems and structures — and the damage it causes is devastating.   This abuse is commonly committed through coerced directorships. That’s why we welcome the consultation paper released by the Federal Government today on coerced directorships – an important step forward in their commitment to curbing financial abuse.   Too often, we see women facing bankruptcy and homelessness because they’ve been forced or tricked into running a company by their partner — receiving no benefits, but left holding all the company’s debt and accountability.   In many cases, these women aren’t even aware they have been registered as a company director until they are pursued by creditors.   The process for victim-survivors to contest, resolve, and recover from coerced directorships is complex, uncertain, and can take years; so prevention is vital.   Closing loopholes, strengthening requirements, and increasing regulation to prevent coerced directorships are critical to helping stop abuse before it starts, and we'll continue to engage with government on broader reforms to make financial systems safer.   #16DaysOfActivism #EAAD25 #EconomicAbuseAwareness #Awareness2Action

Driving change for a decade 🚗🎉 For 10 years, L2P has been pairing young people who need extra support with dedicated mentors to help them get their driver’s licence. Together, they focus on safe driving skills, building confidence behind the wheel, and working toward the 120-hour goal. The Women’s Pain Report makes one thing clear: women deserve better. Of the 13,000 Victorian women and girls who shared their stories, 90% said they’ve lived with pain — mostly related to reproductive health conditions — for more than a year. For many, this is because they’ve been dismissed by healthcare professionals, priced out of care, or left behind because of where they live. Each’s Executive Director of Operations Camilla Radia-George said, “For far too long, being ignored and dismissed has been a common experience for women. “The minimisation of pain and chronic conditions prevents them from getting the treatment and support they need. “Services like our Victorian Virtual Women’s Health Clinic and Endometriosis and Pelvic Pain Clinic are helping women feel seen and heard — improving their quality of life. “Our team of health experts provide free, safe, and accessible care for women from diverse backgrounds — helping them manage endometriosis, pelvic pain, menstrual conditions, and more.” Everyone deserves to be believed and supported. To change the narrative in Victoria and beyond, we need to prioritise care like this: designed for women, by women.

Building a healthcare system that truly listens: The Inquiry into Women’s Pain Report 2025 – now published! The landmark Inquiry channelled 13,000+ experiences into 27 recommendations to bridge the gender pain gap and transform how we care for women and girls in Victoria. The evidence is clear: ⏳ 90% of respondents experience pain lasting over a year 💬 Many women shared experiences of being gaslit and dismissed by the health system 🚧 Long wait times, stigma, and cost are key barriers to accessing quality care We acknowledge the courage and strength of every individual who shared their story of pain and extend our gratitude to the peak bodies and clinicians that helped shape this report. Your voices will lead the way to lasting, systemic change for women and future generations.  To read the full report, visit: https://lnkd.in/gs485www#WomensPainMatters #PainInquiry #WomensHealth #EndThePainGap #HealthEquity #WomensHealth #BelieveWomen #EmpoweringWomenNow #WomensVoices #ChronicPain #WomensHealthMatters #WomenHealthcare

For women in rural and regional areas, getting the right care isn’t always easy. Long travel times and limited local services can make it hard to access support when it’s needed most. Our Virtual Women’s Health Clinic is helping to change that. As a free, virtual and Victoria-wide service, the clinic is connecting women, girls and gender-diverse people with sexual and reproductive healthcare, wherever they are. This is playing an important role in increasing healthcare accessibility, supporting early intervention, and improving women’s health outcomes across the state. Last week, Victoria made history 🖤💛❤️   For far too long, First Nations people have faced poorer health and social outcomes because they’ve been excluded from decisions that affect their lives.   Victoria’s Treaty with First Peoples offers a new beginning, built on truth-telling, equity and healing. It affirms the sovereignty and self-determination of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, laying the groundwork for systems and services that can help close the gap.   We’re celebrating everything this Treaty means for First Nations Communities in Victoria, and hope to see other states and territories take the same path. Young people are growing up in a world where betting is seen as social connection. But the reality is: Australians lose $25 billion to gambling each year. It doesn’t have to be this way. By strengthening regulatory protections, limiting gambling ads, and investing in education and support, we can shift the narrative. Services like Gambler’s Help are helping people find balance with their money and lifestyle. But there’s more work for us to do, together. 📊 Learn more about the impact gambling is having across the country at: https://lnkd.in/gEvmPB-s

Dr Ly, a general practitioner (GP) at the virtual women’s health clinic, sees first-hand how virtual care can change women’s lives. For many women, receiving health care might not be straightforward. The barriers are real: long wait times, high costs, difficulty finding a female GP, past negative experiences, and, in regional areas, the challenges of distance and transport. Add stigma and privacy concerns , and it can feel easier to stay silent than to seek help. “I hope that speaking with us can help rebuild their trust and confidence in the health system. Services like this virtual clinic are vital for women’s health in Victoria because they break down barriers to access… It removes the need for travel, reduces waiting times, and empowers women to seek care earlier.” At the heart of the virtual women’s health clinic is trust. Trust that women will be listened to. Trust that their care will be safe and confidential. Trust that no matter where they live, women can reach out and find support. “I hope that women feel hopeful and supported when they connect with this service. I want every woman to feel heard and know that they have a safe place to turn to for help.” Every woman deserves to feel heard and have access to the care she needs, wherever she lives.
