  • In October, our Engineering & Asset Services team hosted the Capital Works (Roads) Technical Forum, bringing together over 80 participants from eight councils and key service authorities to share knowledge, tackle challenges, and explore innovative solutions for road and infrastructure delivery. As one of Australia’s fastest-growing municipalities, we are committed to improving how we plan, manage, and deliver capital works. The forum focused on: ✅ Sustainability and innovation in road projects ✅ Technical strategies for service authority engagement ✅ Case studies showcasing best practices Forums like these help us share ideas, build connections, and spark practical actions that benefit everyone. Thank you to all participating councils and partners for making this event a success: Sustainability Victoria | Huesker Geosynthetics | Downer Australia | Greater Western Water | Melbourne Water | InField Global | Hobsons Bay City Council | City of Whittlesea | Brimbank City Council | Hume City Council | Wyndham City Council | Moorabool Shire Council | City of Greater Geelong

  • The new state-of the-art Aquatic and Leisure Centre in Fraser Rise, is another step closer with construction commencing on the exciting new community facility. The two-storey aquatic and leisure centre is Melton City Council’s biggest ever capital project and will include aquatic and fitness facilities, allied health services, and community meeting spaces all under one roof. It will feature indoor and outdoor pools, splash play areas, water slides, Australia’s first dedicated water sensory space, a multipurpose events space and rooftop deck. The all-electric facility is targeting a 5 Star Green Star accreditation and once complete, will be a destination for leisure, health, wellbeing and community connection in the City. Kane Constructions Pty Ltd will deliver the project on behalf of Council following a comprehensive tender process. Construction over the next few months will include site establishment, excavation works and the pouring of foundations. Council is funding this multi-million dollar project, supported by a $15 million contribution from the Australian Government through its Thriving Suburbs Program.
