This is a session I am really looking forward to being part of at GMAC in Madrid next week! We are going to be giving everyone a sneak preview of a brand new AI integration from House of Education! If you don't yet know House of Education, they specialise in data enrichment and candidate engagement in the student recruitment funnel. Together with Dr. Jonas Elmenhorst from KLU Kühne Logistics University, Pernilla Carlstrom and I are going to be having a look at how candidate behaviour and expectations have changed dramatically with the advent of GenAI. A 7-day Edtech Hackathon bringing master's students together from across Europe. I will be giving one of the kick-off talks, setting the scene for AI in Education, and I can't wait to see the initiatives they come up with! I had a great talk recently with Rick Rudolph on the challenges of AI in business schools. Whether institutions are ready or not, AI tools are creeping into classrooms, teaching resources, and administrative processes. But significant number don’t yet have a policy in place for learners or guidelines for staff. We are already seeing a massive impact on how applicants research and apply for university. Once on campus, there is also a fundamental shift in how learners research, process and consume knowledge, threatening the core critical thinking skills that business schools are trying to foster. And yet, there is growing evidence that AI tools deployed by institutions are also failing to deliver the promised results. Often due to bad data management, poor leadership decisions and misalignment of goals. What a great event hosted by BlueSky Education! A really unique event bringing together panels of 40 journalists covering every angle of business education along with representatives from many of Europe’s top business schools. Something interesting is brewing down in Saarland! I'm really happy to be supporting one of Germany's newest institutions, the Scheer School of Digital Sciences at Saarland University, as they build a business school for the future. Except it isn't exactly a business school. Sebastian Kreibich, Benedikt Schnellbächer and their team are focusing on the skills of the future, equiping graduates with cross-dsiciplinary skills from computer science, business, law, and ethics to tackle digital transformation from all angles. As a public/private partnership, they are focused on delivering graduates with the skills demanded by their industry partners. And its not just the teaching content. The Scheer School are reinventing how a school is run, and how academic content is developed and delivered using the latest digital tools to maximise teaching impact and learner experience. "AI in Business Education: Current Practices and Future Potential" - the latest AI whitepaper has just been published by GMAC on their newly designed website! Thanks as always to Andrew Walker for the support and editing :) The paper has a look at the latest trends in business education using data and surveys from GMAC member schools, and also draws on some great research from AACSB, Inside Higher Ed and the Digital Education Council. We look at how AI use is evolving in business schools and how AI is changing attitudes and behaviours at schools. We also do a recap of last year's series of BSchool AI use-cases and look at lessons learned and successful strategies that can be deployed by schools looking to integrate AI on campus. What is the main challenge for a business school to attract foreign students for its MBA programme? I was recently interviewed by Rolando Vargas Serrano on this topic, and the overuse/misuse of the term 'truly global'. Gone are the days of unlimited applications and guaranteed jobs for graduates in top tier consulting companies. The proliferation of MBA programmes globally, and the explosion in part-time, executive, blended, online and specialised formats, mixed with the rapidly growing specialised Masters market, has undercut the growth in the MBA market while at the same time employers have ceased to see MBAs at specific schools as the primary source of experienced hires. These factors have sapped growth in applications while also removing a key selling point of (almost) guaranteed career success for MBA graduates. MBA programmes now have the challenge of competing for applications with a larger range of competitors while having a weakened value proposition. And yet, a solid value proposition that resonates with the target market is exactly the solution that MBA programmes need to discover to survive and grow." 4Uni Solutions #HigherEd #MBA
