Across Europe there is growing focus on clean mobility, reduced congestion and new ways to move people through busy cities. Autonomous vehicles will play an important part in that future. 🚗✨ That is why we are proud that Panasonic Energy Corporation of North America has signed a multi-year agreement to supply cylindrical 2170 lithium-ion battery cells to Zoox, the autonomous mobility company owned by Amazon. Deliveries begin in early 2026. These batteries will support Zoox’s autonomous ride hailing fleet and help power its zero emission robotaxis. As autonomous transport develops, reliable and energy efficient battery technology will be essential for safe operations in city environments. For us, this collaboration is another step in supporting sustainable mobility solutions that can help cities across Europe and beyond reach their climate and transport goals. And as Europe continues to explore cleaner, smarter and more flexible transport options, we remain committed to providing the energy technology that can help make those ideas possible.

  • When every second counts, reliable technology saves lives 🚑⚡ Across Northern Ireland, paramedics are transforming the way they deliver care. The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) has rolled out Panasonic TOUGHBOOK G2 rugged tablets in their fleet of emergency response vehicles to digitise patient records in real time and connect seamlessly with the wider Health and Social Care network. The result: over 100,000 electronic patient care records already created, enabling clinicians to instantly share vital data such as ECGs and medical history with hospitals before patients even arrive. Faster decisions, better continuity of care, and improved outcomes for 1.9 million people. 🩺👩⚕️ Designed for the most demanding environments, the TOUGHBOOK G2 combines resilience, long battery life and intuitive usability, ensuring NIAS crews can focus on what matters most: their patients. • In our latest Sustainability Data Book, we share progress on Panasonic’s decarbonisation journey. At Panasonic, we are committed to achieving net zero in our operations (Scope 1 and 2) by 2030. With more than 200 factories worldwide, this is no small task yet in FY2024 we reached an important milestone: ✅ 45* factories are now net zero, ahead of our target of 37 ✅ Scope 1 and 2 emissions reduced by 0.83 million tonnes, exceeding our goal We are encouraged by this progress, but with more than 200 factories in total, the next five years will bring significant challenges as we work to bring every site to net zero. Looking further ahead, Scope 3 remains our biggest challenge, with a target of net zero by 2050. Achieving this will require close collaboration with our partners, customers and communities. There is still much to do, but we are proud to say we are on our way. *as of 31.03.2025

  • Highlights from the Panasonic Group Pavilion at Expo 2025 in Osaka! 🌟   Designed as an immersive world, the pavilion encouraged visitors to rediscover their sense of wonder and reflect on the power of human creativity. The space invited guests to explore how ideas take shape, offering interactive zones that reacted to movement, sound, and emotion. These experiences allowed people to see how imagination can evolve into meaningful concepts for the future. According to The Land of NOMO, the pavilion welcomed more than 470,000 visitors and exceeded its target of 450,000, demonstrating strong public interest and engagement 🎉. Highlights included hands-on areas created to spark curiosity in both children and adults, along with thoughtfully designed installations that embodied circular principles. Up-cycled materials and resource-efficient construction methods were used throughout the pavilion to showcase sustainable design in action ♻️. The experience also strengthened connections with Generation Alpha and various partner companies, helping to inspire fresh perspectives and new ideas for future society 🤝💡. As we move forward, we are proud to share that more than ninety-nine per cent of all building materials and equipment will now be reused or recycled. This commitment reflects our ongoing dedication to shaping a more responsible and resource-conscious tomorrow. 🌿✨.

  • AI promises to make work faster and easier. But what happens when we rely on it so much that we stop thinking for ourselves? 🧠 A recent MIT Media Lab study found that when people depend too heavily on AI tools, the brain’s engagement drops, leading to weaker critical thinking and creativity. Researchers call this effect “cognitive debt.” 💡Margarita Lindahl, AI Lead at Panasonic Europe, believes this risk is often misunderstood. The issue is not that AI weakens human thinking - but that it changes what thinking means. As Margarita explains: ‘AI does not replace thought - it raises the bar for it. ‘As AI handles routine cognitive tasks, the human role shifts from execution to direction. The smarter the technology becomes, the more critical reflection, discernment, and strategic judgment are required. In an AI-powered workplace, thinking less is not an option - it is about thinking differently. Faster machines demand deeper minds.’ In the future, the real question will not be who works with AI - that is only a matter of time until AI becomes an integral part of every workflow. The real difference will lie between those who can combine critical reflection, discernment, and strategic judgment with the power of AI - and those who cannot. These skills can be learned and strengthened, which is exactly what we focus on at Panasonic in Europe through our AI upskilling initiatives.

As COP30 Brazil draws to a close, we have been reflecting on the discussions we contributed to this year, at the Japanese pavilion. Two sessions we took part in underlined that sustainability is a business imperative. We would like to thank the WBCSD – World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) for allowing us to work with them very closely on the launch of the Global Circularity Protocol (GPC). We supported its development as a business advisor, helping create a framework that offers clearer metrics and guidance for improving circularity. This is becoming increasingly important for organisations that want to strengthen their resilience, reduce waste, and respond to rising issues regarding the scarcity of raw materials. Another key subject where we actively engaged in one of the sessions at COP30: ‘Turning Avoided Emissions into Corporate Value’. From Panasonic, Hirotoshi Uehara Ph.D showed how significant contributions to the environment provide purpose AND business opportunity at the same time. Ultimately, it aligns closely with how we approach Panasonic GREEN IMPACT. Because Panasonic GREEN IMPACT is a business strategy and avoided emissions are an important area within it, it makes sustainability a source of corporate value rather than a cost. COP30 has served as a platform for exchanging innovative ideas and collaborating with like-minded individuals. Because progress depends on collaboration, practical tools, and a shared commitment to change. We remain focused on supporting decarbonisation, advancing a circular economy, and helping businesses and society move towards a more sustainable future.

Nature has its own air purifier, so why go without it in November? 🍃❄️ November marks the start of a period when indoor air quality really matters. Closed windows, dry heating and spending more time indoors can create an environment where pollutants, allergens and certain viruses and bacteria can linger. This makes it the perfect time to shine the spotlight on the science behind Panasonic’s nanoe™ X technology. In nature, hydroxyl radicals are powerful, highly reactive chemical species that break down harmful substances. They are often referred to as the “cleaning agents of the natural world”. nanoe™ X builds on this natural process by generating hydroxyl radicals and embedding them in microscopic water particles, enabling them to remain active for more than 600 seconds and penetrate deeper into fabrics, surfaces and the air itself. What does that mean for indoor environments? 🔹 Cleaner air: nanoe™ X helps to inhibit certain viruses, bacteria, mold, allergens, and odours. 🔹 More comfort: The moisture-rich particles create a less drying environment for skin and hair. 🔹 Broader coverage: Thanks to their extended lifespan, nanoe™ X particles can travel further and penetrate dense materials such as curtains, carpets and upholstery. As we navigate through the flu season and the colder months, creating cleaner spaces isn’t just a preference, it should be a priority. How do you prepare your spaces for flu season? Share your thoughts in the comments!

While innovation races ahead, a quieter risk is spreading through organisations - Shadow AI. It occurs when employees use AI tools under the radar, without approval or oversight: 🛠️ Drafting emails 🛠️ Designing presentation visuals 🛠️ Analysing data sets 🛠️ Using public code assistants At first glance, it may seem harmless. In reality, the impact can be severe. A common scenario: an employee uploads confidential customer data into a free AI platform for quick analysis. One well-intentioned click - and sensitive information leaves the company perimeter. The result? Breaches of data protection, compliance, and trust, with serious consequences for everyone involved. As Margarita Lindahl, AI Head explains: “Shadow AI is a highly underestimated risk. Employees need awareness and training to use AI responsibly. Companies must invest in upskilling and define clear rules for approved, compliant AI tools. People need safe spaces to explore and apply AI without compromising integrity.” At Panasonic in Europe, this is a core part of all AI upskilling initiatives. Our workforce is trained in a secure and compliant AI environment - one that encourages experimentation while maintaining responsibility and transparency. Because the goal is not to slow down innovation, but to ensure that innovation happens safely, ethically and with human accountability at its core.
