As COP30 Brazil draws to a close, we have been reflecting on the discussions we contributed to this year, at the Japanese pavilion. Two sessions we took part in underlined that sustainability is a business imperative. We would like to thank the WBCSD – World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) for allowing us to work with them very closely on the launch of the Global Circularity Protocol (GPC). We supported its development as a business advisor, helping create a framework that offers clearer metrics and guidance for improving circularity. This is becoming increasingly important for organisations that want to strengthen their resilience, reduce waste, and respond to rising issues regarding the scarcity of raw materials. Another key subject where we actively engaged in one of the sessions at COP30: ‘Turning Avoided Emissions into Corporate Value’. From Panasonic, Hirotoshi Uehara Ph.D showed how significant contributions to the environment provide purpose AND business opportunity at the same time. Ultimately, it aligns closely with how we approach Panasonic GREEN IMPACT. Because Panasonic GREEN IMPACT is a business strategy and avoided emissions are an important area within it, it makes sustainability a source of corporate value rather than a cost. COP30 has served as a platform for exchanging innovative ideas and collaborating with like-minded individuals. Because progress depends on collaboration, practical tools, and a shared commitment to change. We remain focused on supporting decarbonisation, advancing a circular economy, and helping businesses and society move towards a more sustainable future.
