Architecture and Planning
A collaborative landscape architecture consultancy based in Tartu, Estonia
About us
Our small and committed studio has been creating landscapes since 2011, working every day to improve the quality of our living environment through creative and thoughtful design solutions. Our strength lies in the cooperation between different professionals, the involvement of stakeholders and the synergy that comes as a result of this process. We believe in the power of collaboration and the contribution different professionals can bring to the table. Our approach to each project is bespoke - assembling the right team for the challenge ahead, choosing the right working methods and coming up with creative solutions to any design challenges. We regularly compete in idea competitions to keep the pencil sharp and mind focussed. We promote the profession on several fronts - teaching at university, talking and writing about landscape architecture to the wider public, and participating in professional association working groups.

Raadi Kindergarten completion celebrated with opening ceremony On Friday, October 17, Tartu Vald hosted an opening ceremony to celebrate the completion of the Raadi Kindergarten building. Constructed in under a year, the building and its surrounding yard form the first phase of the Raadi Education and Community Centre, which will eventually include a school, sports hall, and community park. The building has begun to come to life with its new occupants. It currently serves as a temporary home for Raadi Elementary School, which welcomed its first students in September. The kindergarten is set to open next autumn. Designed to evolve with its users, the rational timber structure, adaptable interiors and dynamic landscape provide a supportive environment for learning and play. Raadi Kindergarten has been designed by Lundén Architecture Company together with Estonian company, Arhitekt11. The design is based on their winning proposal in the 2022 international architecture competition. The landscape architecture was developed jointly by Lundén Architecture Company and TajuRuum, and the construction was carried out by KRC Ehitus OÜ. A special gem in our project portfolio. Villa Andropoff, a uniquely located resort complex built for former top leaders of the Council of Ministers of the Estonian SSR, got a new owner in 2022. At their invitation, we had the opportunity to participate in this inspiring process – to create a boutique hotel in Valgeranna that meets modern requirements but carries the original idea and atmosphere. KAMP Architects was responsible for the architecture, Hanna Karits for the interior design, and TajuRuum for the landscape architecture. https://lnkd.in/dQj4W7qN

Last year, NGO Linnaelu, in cooperation with TajuRuum landscape architects, launched a co-learning and development project that brought together students, experts, and the local community to reimagine Rubiini Square in Viljandi, Southern Estonia. The temporary intervention was a great success — showing how collaborative design can spark new life in public spaces. Following this, the area will now be further developed based on the lessons learned. This unique process connected: 🌱 Landscape architecture students from the Estonian University of Life Sciences 🔄 Circular economy students from the Viljandi Culture Academy (University of Tartu) 👥 Young people from the Viljandi Open Youth Centre 🏘️ Members of the Viljandi Old Town community and local entrepreneurs 🏛️ Specialists from the Viljandi City Government Guided by landscape architects Edgar Kaare (TajuRuum OÜ) and Anna Maria Järvsalu (Estonian University of Life Sciences), the project has become a living example of how cross-sector collaboration can shape meaningful, sustainable urban change. Suve lõpu poole liikudes on meil rõõm jagada põnevat uudist Ülemistest- oleme sõlminud lepingu Ülemiste Tervisemaja 3 ehitamiseks aadressil Sepapaja 12/2, Tallinnas. Valmiva tervisemaja hoone brutopind on 10 493 m² ja netopind 8 989 m², mis teeb sellest olulise lisanduse Ülemiste linnaku kasvavasse ärikeskkonda. Projekti tellijaks on MAINOR ULEMISTE AS, arhitektuurse lahenduse on loonud Apex Arhitektuuribüroo Oü, sisearhitektuuri kavandab Superellips OÜ ning maastikuarhitektuuri lahenduse loob TajuRuum.
