I’m giving away $20,000 in cash in a hackathon next month. Yes, you read that right. One hackathon win. That’s around 18 lakh rupees, more than a Microsoft SDE-1's salary in India for a weekend of building. We’re hosting our biggest online AI hackathon next month. If you’ve ever thought, “I should try a hackathon someday,” this is the one. Follow WeMakeDevs, sign up for the newsletter on the website so you don’t miss out, pick your teammates, and we’ll see you there. Thrilled to announce that I won the Multilingual Hackathon. When I signed up for the Multilingual Hackathon sponsored by Lingo.dev, I didn't go in with a winning mindset at all. Truth is I joined purely out of curiosity. I've always wondered how big products seamlessly support dozens of languages while my own projects struggle the moment I add even one new locale. So I treated this hackathon as a learning experiment: 'What actually goes into making an app truly multilingual?' As I explored Lingo's tools, something unexpected happened, the project started becoming more interesting than I had imagined. I wasn't spending hours digging through files or juggling translation keys. A lot of the messy parts I used to fear were suddenly manageable. That shift was surprising in the best way. I kept building, not because I was aiming for anything big, but because the output itself kept getting more intriguing. It felt like solving my own long-standing confusion about localization, step by step. And then something I genuinely didn't expect happened, the project ended up winning. It still feels a bit unreal because this wasn't meant to be a “competition entry” for me. It was simply me trying to understand a problem I had avoided for a long time. you can check out the project here: https://lnkd.in/gH8tugAm I'm grateful to WeMakeDevs , Kunal Kushwaha and Lingo.dev for creating a learning-first space where an experiment can turn into something meaningful.

There’s an open-source project that basically says you don’t need all the backend tools for streaming, monitoring, logging, deployment, etc. Just use this one tool for your entire backend! 👀 I’m talking about Motia. I had a good chat with Rohit Ghumare about it, and I’m curious to know what you think. Can one tool really replace backend developers or at least make their lives easier? By the way, we’re hosting a hackathon to find out, and you can win a $3,000 cash prize plus Google Summer of Code mentorship 🏆 Register now for The Backend Reloaded hackathon hosted by WeMakeDevs: https://lnkd.in/gppq6j7T
