“Kristi’s bench” 💛 Honored and humbled beyond words. Over the past few years, I’ve had the privilege of working on several projects with the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska. During a recent visit, I was deeply surprised with a bench dedicated in my honor — placed at the Tribe’s new Fire and EMS Station, a facility my team and I are incredibly proud to have helped design and bring to life. Fire Chief Isaac shared incredibly kind words, including remembering that my mom passed away two years ago while we were in the middle of this work. He and others wanted to give me a place in their community that I can visit whenever I’m passing through. A place to rest. A place to remember. A place to look ahead. Strangers become clients, clients become teammates, and teammates become friends. That spirit sums up so much of why I do what I do — helping people and communities grow stronger. And when those same people help me grow stronger in return… “thank you” never feels like enough. The inscription on the bench — written in the Ho-Chunk language — reads: “With gratitude we rest. In recognition of her unwavering leadership and service to The People (The Tribe), we thank Kristi Nohavec.” Hearing Chief Isaac explain the Ho-Chunk translation and its meaning was profoundly moving — a reminder of the power of partnership, respect, and community. My team and I are so proud of the work we’ve accomplished together, work that will help shape and support this community for decades to come. Thank you, my friends. 💛 WINNEBAGO TRIBE OF NEBRASKA LEO A DALY

Small Town Famous won a Metamorphosis Award from Retrofit Magazine! Did we design something incredible? Or did we just stumble into a good situation teed up by Randal Chick, then help our clients peel off 60 years of mid-century “improvements” while managing not to break anything? Probably the latter. But, hey, apparently the judges liked it! It’s pretty fun to show up on a winners list with Gensler, HOK, and Rand Elliott. Big names… and then Goodlife Architecture. How cool. Reminder to myself and the team: Don't forget to sing when you win — even if 90% of the credit goes to a building that was already beautiful long before we touched it.

A Victory for Landscape Architecture! 🌿 Thank you to everyone who rallied behind our Landscape Architecture program — more than 3,800 alumni, professionals, and community members showed their support for our programs, highlighting the strength and impact of our students, faculty and profession. After thoughtful review, the Academic Planning Committee voted 19–2 to preserve Landscape Architecture, and Chancellor Bennett has endorsed the plan—securing a bright future for the program while meeting the university’s goals. This outcome celebrates the power of community and the vital role landscape architects play in shaping resilient, beautiful, and thriving places across Nebraska and beyond. We’re excited to continue building on this momentum through creativity, collaboration, and innovation. 🌱 Thank you for standing with us.
