The Association for Molecular Pathology (AMP) was founded in 1995 to provide structure and leadership to the emerging field of molecular diagnostics. AMP's 2,900+ members include individuals from academic and community medical centers, government, and industry; including pathologist and doctoral scientist laboratory directors; basic and translational scientists; technologists; and trainees. Through the efforts of its Board of Directors, Committees, Working Groups, and members, AMP is the primary resource for expertise, education, and collaboration in one of the fastest growing fields in healthcare. AMP members influence policy and regulation on the national and international levels, ultimately serving to advance innovation in the field and protect patient access to high quality, appropriate testing.

Even after all these years in molecular medicine, I left last week’s Association for Molecular Pathology meeting in Boston genuinely inspired. The convention center was beautiful, it was big, and the food was surprisingly good. But what really energized me was the innovative thinking everywhere you turned, the buzz in every hallway, and the sense that our field is not just progressing, it is accelerating. What we are doing at the molecular level continues to reshape medicine in remarkable ways. The impact on patient care is real, it is growing, and it is something I am proud to be part of as we move into the next chapter of this field. Last week, we exhibited for the first time with our new name — Virchow Medical — at the Association for Molecular Pathology (AMP) Annual Meeting & Expo in Boston, MA. The AMP community represents the forefront of molecular and genomic laboratory medicine. Our booth gave us a venue to engage with molecular pathologists, oncologists, and reference lab executives who share our incentive to optimize the utility of biopsy specimens for molecular testing.
