Hispanic communities in South Florida are less likely to be diagnosed with lung cancer early — a disparity Baptist Health Miami Cancer Institute is working to change. Through Project ASCENT, a culturally tailored screening initiative led by Manmeet Ahluwalia, MD, MBA, FASCO, the Institute has increased low-dose CT screenings by 130% and is helping detect lung cancer at earlier, more treatable stages. With new support from the American Cancer Society, we’re expanding this work through deeper integration with primary care providers to reach even more patients.
