Our Microtia Clinic is all about choices, like whether to get hearing devices or reconstructive surgery. Dr. Megan Hedman has been caring for 8-year-old Reis since she was born, helping her family make decisions like these.

About us
At Children’s Hospital Colorado, we know that kids aren’t just mini adults. They’re in a chapter of life unlike any other and deserve incredibly different care to match. That’s what drives our distinct, thoughtful approach to pediatric healthcare. It’s not just about the treatments we offer, but how we offer them. Our work has earned us a spot among the best children’s hospitals in the nation, and we proudly provide exceptional care to kids and families across Colorado and the region. Our goal is to ensure that every child receives personalized care that blends deep expertise and experience with compassion and a special understanding of what kids need to heal. Our commitment to children fuels us, but our team members make our achievements possible. Without a culture that prioritizes the beauty of difference and the importance of a thriving workforce, we cannot provide the kind of care we strive for. By allowing each team member to explore their passions, find flexibility outside the office and succeed through collaboration, we continue to reach new heights in pediatric health. When you work at Children’s Colorado, you’re joining thousands of team members representing the full spectrum of pediatric specialties and professional roles. Our system of care includes four pediatric hospitals, 10+ specialty care centers and 1,300+ outreach clinics. And from day one, you’ll play a critical role in making a difference for the children and families we serve. We’re proud of how far we've come in realizing our mission, but our work is far from over. Every moment of every day we are telling new tales — of kids overcoming difficult odds, of heroic team members changing lives, of everyday people finding their calling and making it into a career to be proud of. Tiffany and Ryan are thankful for a lot this year: For their local doctor who recognized before birth that their daughter, Maklyn, needed specialized care for congenital diaphragmatic hernia. For the 16 primary nurses who cared for them and Maklyn before, during and after she was born. For the skilled surgeons who performed lifesaving surgery right after Maklyn was born when she weighed just 4 pounds, 3 ounces. For neighbors and friends back in Arizona who helped with meals, chores and caring for their dogs. For their two teenage sons, who turn from gridiron gladiators to tender-hearted big brothers whenever Maklyn’s around. For the countless other caregivers and volunteers in our hospital who made it possible for this “warrior princess” to overcome a life-threatening condition and spend her first Thanksgiving at home, healthy with her family. “1,000% we know we would not have the outcome we have now if we weren't there,” says Tiffany. This week and every week, we’re grateful for families like Tiffany and Ryan’s, who allow us to be part of their story. And we thank our amazing team members who craft these beautiful chapters. #Thanksgiving #PrematurityAwarenessMonth

As a "Kid Correspondent," our patient John got the chance to interview Denver Broncos Football Club linebacker Jonathon Cooper. It turns out that they have more than their love of the game in common — both live with congenital heart disease.

When Veronica learned her son, AJ, had Down syndrome, she made a choice. “As a family, we made it our mission to educate ourselves on how to help AJ navigate a world that was not designed for him and his challenges,” she says. Fortunately, she has plenty of help in showing AJ how to navigate his surroundings — and he figures out plenty on his own. “He’s such a rockstar and never gives up,” Veronica says. “AJ has goals and dreams just like everyone else, and while he may need some more assistance along the way, he finds his own path to get it done.” Doctors diagnosed AJ before birth, and he’s received care in our Sie Center for Down Syndrome since he was born. Our experts help kids with Down syndrome thrive and feel included in everyday life. For AJ, that means helping him feel comfortable in social settings and giving him opportunities to be outside, where Veronica says he lights up. She describes him as a “cowboy at heart,” and he loves to visit his grandparents’ farm. His favorite part is feeding the horses. “AJ is uniquely perfect,” Veronica says. “He may have a Down syndrome diagnosis, but that does not entirely define him — it is only a part of his beautiful story.”

We've seen an increase in the number of patients seeking treatment for disordered eating, and a higher proportion of them are younger teens ages 13 to 15. Our team of pediatric experts, from psychologists to dietitians to psychiatrists, partners with families to care for them through an innovative partial hospitalization model.
