After more than a decade as Open Philanthropy, we’re becoming Coefficient Giving: a name that better reflects our role as a philanthropic funder and advisor working with many donors. In recent years, we have grown from working primarily with one philanthropic partner, Good Ventures, to supporting multiple major donors. We’ve launched multi-donor initiatives like the Lead Exposure Action Fund and the Abundance and Growth Fund and expanded our Partnerships function. We want to build on these successes in our next chapter, fulfilling our original vision to help many philanthropists achieve impact. Key updates include: A refreshed website, a new visual identity, and a structure that makes it easier for other donors to support our funds at scale. Our overall mission remains the same, as do our core values and commitment to finding the most cost-effective ways to help others. Open Philanthropy’s Science and Global Health R&D team is hiring! We’re looking for up to three Senior Program Associates to support grantmaking aimed at improving global health through scientific research and R&D. We’re also looking for a Program Officer to help execute, expand, and refine grantmaking strategies, primarily by leading grant investigations to identify and evaluate high-impact opportunities for advancing Strep A vaccine development, with the primary goal of reducing the burden of rheumatic heart disease. This is an opportunity to engage deeply with world-class science grantmakers while shaping neglected global health product development efforts. Our team directs over $100 million each year toward high-impact science and innovation, and we plan to expand in 2026. We’re looking for people who combine scientific understanding, creative thinking, analytical rigor, and strong judgment with curiosity about how global health innovations move from research to real-world impact. Open Philanthropy’s Technical AI Safety team is recruiting grantmakers to support research aimed at reducing catastrophic risks from advanced AI. We’re hiring at all levels of seniority. Our technical AI safety grantmaking has grown rapidly, from $40M in 2024 to being on track for over $130M in 2025 (separate from OP’s other AI safety grantmaking in AI governance and policy and capacity building). We plan to expand both the quality and quantity of our support in 2026 and need more specialists to help us achieve this. This is an opportunity to have an outsized influence on the field of technical AI safety. You'd likely be in charge of allocating tens of millions of dollars of high-impact research funding annually.
