Today, we’re launching eBay’s Global 2025 Recommerce Report and the findings make one thing clear: recommerce has officially gone mainstream. ♻️  ➡️ Nearly 9 in 10 consumers plan to maintain or increase their spending on second-hand goods in 2025. ➡️ Younger generations are driving this trend, with 59% of Gen Z and 56% of Millennials expecting to buy more pre-loved items in the coming year. ➡️ 68% of eBay buyers say they feel good about giving products a second life and 63% of eBay sellers share that same sentiment. This momentum reflects more than changing shopping habits; it signals a deeper cultural shift toward mindful consumption and financial empowerment. It’s a shift that was front and center today in Brussels at Second-Hand, First Priority, where I had the privilege of joining leaders and policymakers to advance the conversation on sustainable commerce. AI is reshaping the economy and eBay is all-in. Today we launched a new program with OpenAI in the UK - #eBayAIActivate. Designed to put world-class AI tools into the hands of 10,000 small British businesses by the end of this year. Together with access to OpenAI’s enterprise tooling, we’ll be providing ongoing hands-on training in the use of AI agents, and our team of AI engineers will be continuously rolling new custom #agents based on feedback from our UK seller community. With the tectonic shift that AI is bringing about in virtually every industry, we have a generational opportunity to reimagine how people buy and sell at eBay right now, leveraging our three decades of marketplace data. With eBay AI Activate, I’m proud we’re extending that vision to small businesses, ensuring they have the same level of access to state-of-the-art tools and training, as the biggest retailers have, in order to compete, innovate and grow in the AI era. This program is pioneering. While there's been a lot of discussion of AI for employee productivity, with this program we’re enabling our entrepreneur community in the UK to leverage AI in everything they do, not only on eBay but off eBay as well!
