Felton Institute, along with the hundreds of staff, children, youth, and families we serve every day, applauds Mayor Daniel Lurie 丹尼爾·羅偉 and the City and County of San Francisco for their bold action to support our most vulnerable residents. Mayor Daniel Lurie has partnered with the Board of Supervisors and the Crankstart Foundation to ensure that San Francisco families receiving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits will not go without much-needed food assistance, even with the program set to lapse for the first time ever, one month into the federal government shutdown. “Nearly 112,000 San Franciscans rely on SNAP, and we will not stand by with the federal government set to let these critical benefits lapse for the first time ever,” said Mayor Lurie. “With the unanimous support of the Board of Supervisors, we will provide immediate relief for families and workers who depend on SNAP benefits, and we’re grateful to the Crankstart Foundation for their partnership in expanding that support. San Franciscans stand up for each other, and we’re going to do what it takes to make sure our neighbors can put food on the table and provide for their families.” Starting next week, Felton is doubling down on our offerings at the weekly farmers market in our children’s division, providing fresh vegetables, protein, eggs, baby formula and other essential items such as diapers, wipes, for free to help offset some of the recent losses in SNAP benefits. If anyone is interested in volunteering, contributing or donating, we would be grateful for your support.. Link here: https://lnkd.in/gfDzMpzQ https://lnkd.in/gFPgknMY

Yesterday, EDvance College had the opportunity to present at the annual National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Conference alongside our Director of Workforce Development, Anna Wolde-Yohannes, President Lygia Stebbing, and our long-standing employer partner, Felton Institute. Felton’s COO, Yohana I. Quiróz, Ed.D., and ECE REACH Workforce Development and Student Success Director, Dra. Gigi Munoz, Ed.D, joined us to share our joint work on “Integrating Apprenticeships and Work-Based Learning to Strengthen the ECE Workforce.” It was inspiring to be in a room full of early childhood leaders from across the country. We were especially proud to present with Felton Institute, one of EDvance’s closest partners. Their commitment to educator growth is clear, with more than 64 Felton educators currently enrolled in EDvance pathways. Together, we highlighted how strong higher-ed and employer partnerships can open meaningful doors for the workforce. The session created an energizing conversation about what it takes to build a workforce that is both well-prepared and well-supported. There was strong interest in EDvance’s FCC non-registered apprenticeship model and how to better serve mixed-delivery providers. The insights shared by community colleges, ECE centers, FCC providers, and workforce programs showed just how much momentum there is for innovative, practice-based pathways. EDvance College is grateful to be part of this national movement to strengthen and support the ECE workforce.

3 Bay Area Mayors in one room 🔥 At our 11/20 Learning Into Action: Regional Homelessness Strategy session, we brought together leaders from across the region — including Mayor Barbara Lee (Oakland), Mayor Adena Ishii (Berkeley), and Mayor Matt Mahan (San José) — to align on a shared path for regional solutions to homelessness. We were joined by an incredible cross-sector group, including Bay Area Council, Telecare Corporation, Felton Institute, Hanson Bridgett LLP, Urban Vision Alliance, Seeds of Hope Silicon Valley, The Salvation Army, All Home, Tipping Point Community, DignityMoves, Wells Fargo, Crankstart, Kaiser Permanente, Carea Health Technologies, Valhalla Foundation, Haven Safe, Restorative Pathways, Ritter Center, and many others! Together we committed to next steps: • building a structure for region-wide Collaboration • identification of policy initiatives to pursue together • selecting sites for large-scale housing + services facilities • preparing a January funders convening to catalyze regional investment This was an important next step on addressing the Bay Area’s biggest challenge and I am appreciative of everyone for the continued partnership.
