Earlier this fall, the Hanger Foundation's Move to Inspire events brought together more than 600 participants across seven cities, raising nearly $80,000 for the Hanger Foundation Empowerment Grants. These grants go directly to nonprofits serving the amputee and mobility-challenged community, empowering change in communities throughout the country. With 60 teams, 350 volunteers, and hundreds of donations made in support of the cause, this year's events were a resounding success. Special thanks to our incredible event sponsors, including College Park Industries, Thuasne, SleevSaver, Trulife, and Hanger Clinic, as well as all who cheered on participants at our activity-filled, community-focused events. We couldn't have done this without you! #HangerFoundation #EmpoweredCareers

Born with a partial left hand, eight-year-old Litzi was determined to play the violin. To make this possible, her music teacher restrung her instrument to allow her to play the violin left-handed, an instrument that is almost universally played right-handed. Milwaukee, WI #HangerClinic Pediatric Specialist and prosthetist Mafer Larraga Martinez (pictured), designed a custom prosthesis for Litzi, with help from clinical resident Hannah Mullan and Upper Limb Prosthetic Specialist Tom Current. The team consulted with professional violinist Adrian Anantawan, who also uses a prosthesis to play his instrument. Once Litzi’s custom prototype was designed, it was sent to the team at the #HangerFabricationNetwork facility in Phoenix, AZ and built using advanced 3D printing technology. Recently, through an instrument donation drive held by the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music, Litzi received a violin of her very own. The Senior Director of Education, John Bragle (pictured), even attended one of Litzi’s appointments to ensure the instrument was customized to fit her needs. Special thanks to Litzi’s entire care team from the Milwaukee Hanger Clinic, as well as Children’s Wisconsin and the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music for being part of her journey! #EmpoweredCareers #HangerPediatrics

Last weekend, Hanger Clinic was honored to sponsor the 2025 Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) Triathlon Challenge in San Diego, CA. This unforgettable weekend was a celebration of strength, resilience, and the power of adaptive sports. Our #HangerClinic patient champions, Yvonne Llanes and Lera Doederlein, connected with the community and shared their powerful stories of perseverance. They also participated in events by supporting athletes in the open water swim clinic, energizing the crowd on the Tour De Cove main stage, and conquering a 30-mile hand cycle challenge. Among the competitors were five Hanger Clinic teams featuring patient athletes who embodied the true spirit of possibility, determination, and community. A heartfelt thank you to CAF for hosting such an incredible event, and to every athlete, volunteer, and supporter who made it truly impactful! #EmpoweredCareers

Diagnosed with CLOVES syndrome in utero, Bosco, an 11-year-old pediatric patient, had his first partial amputation at 1-year-old. He recently underwent a Symes amputation and is learning to walk again. Gwen Ansier and Beth Petrovic (pictured) are working as a team in our Westchester, IL #HangerClinic to help create the best outcomes for Bosco, who has been in our care for more than a decade. Part of their efforts include regular adjustments to ensure comfortability and function of his AFO worn on his left leg, and casting and fitting his new prosthetic device for his right leg. Bosco’s mom shared that Gwen has worked tirelessly to give Bosco the best chance at life, and says she can't imagine what Bosco's life would look like without her. Thank you to Gwen, Beth, and the rest of Bosco’s care team for your compassion and unwavering support for Bosco! #EmpoweredCareers

From engaging cooking classes to adaptive sporting events, our #HangerClinic teams are bringing meaningful experiences to patients across our footprint. Here’s a glimpse of some of our recent happenings: ▪️On Saturday, Sept. 27, Hanger Clinic’s Kelly Dunbar and Zach Harvey joined participants at our Empowered Culinary Academy for an interactive cooking class at Sur La Table in Englewood, CO. Among the participants were several seasoned bilateral upper extremity amputees who were able to share their own tips and tricks, making it a fun, friendly experience for all! ▪️Earlier this October, a few Phoenix, AZ Hanger Clinic clinicians, including Jillian Okimoto and Matt Uellendahl, organized a local #BAKABootcamp for nine bilateral above-knee amputees. Patients worked with therapists, as well as students from Midwestern University, and other local prosthetists to share goals, participate in gait assessments and mobility challenges, and set short and long-term goals for themselves. ▪️On Saturday, Oct. 18, our Tampa Hanger Clinic partnered with DICK'S Sporting Goods #HouseofSport to host an event that welcomed over 130 participants for a day of adaptive sports, including participants who ran and climbed for the first time. The event was made possible through the generous support of our community partners. Special thanks to Danielle Noble, a Challenged Athletes Foundation athlete, and the Tampa Bay Lightning for taking part in the activities! ▪️Last week, Hanger Clinic Patient Champions, Amanda Bordoy and Kevin Breen, joined participants in Houston, TX for the Enhancing Skills for Life, 501c3 workshop. The event works to empower individuals living without both hands or all four limbs by providing a safe space to share their stories, resilience, and adaptability with others. Hanger Clinic hosted a quad bootcamp session focused on mobility and adaptive fitness, as well as an engaging cooking class that highlighted practical tips for independence and confidence in daily living. ▪️This past weekend, Hanger Clinic was proud to sponsor the Run a Myelin My Shoes (#RAMMS) marathon in Grand Rapids, MI supporting an inspiring community of individuals with #MultipleSclerosis who use ankle-foot orthoses (AFO) to stay active and achieve their goals. Activities included a continuing education course on the latest AFO and microprocessor knee-ankle-foot orthoses (MPKAFO) technologies featuring Hanger Clinic Patient Champion Cheryl Hile, and concluded with a post-marathon dinner. Special thanks to all the wonderful team members and our community partners who helped bring these events to life! #EmpoweredCareers

After experiencing severe complications following a routine abdominal procedure, Zerlyn Jones underwent the amputation of both her arms and legs. Though the experience was traumatic, the 64-year-old is now making progress she once thought would be impossible. Initially inspired by fellow amputee and Hanger LIVE 2024 Peer Mentor of the Year Kevin Leonard (right), Zerlyn also credits her recovery to clinician Jesse Mitrani (left) at the Hollywood, FL #HangerClinic. “Beyond just prosthetic care, Hanger has provided me opportunities to connect with others through their many events and outreach efforts. These experiences have allowed me to meet fellow amputees, hear their stories and share my own. I truly appreciate Hanger’s ongoing commitment to building a strong, supportive community, because knowing you're not alone makes all the difference.” Thank you to Kevin, Jesse, and Zerlyn’s entire care team for your compassion and expertise, which has made a world of difference in Zerlyn’s journey. #EmpoweredCareers
