This week on Route Zero: I'm convinced that if you want to be part of a real long-term growth opportunity, you should figure out how to get EV charging to people who don't live in single-family homes or have easy access to a garage. Yes, really. Even if America's seeing an "EV slowdown" at the moment. Used ones continue to fly off dealer lots, and millions of drivers need charging access and will forever. That need isn't going anywhere. That's why I love catching up with it's electric, one of the more interesting companies in this space. It had big news for curbside charging access in Los Angeles this week, and COO and co-founder Tiya Gordon tells me it's catching on fast: "We really feel like we've cracked the code, and a lot of cities are agreeing," she said. One clear message: Curbside charging is the key 🔑 #Cadmus' “Electrifying Ridehail” report calls out what we already knew – drivers need #chargers right where they park. The #NYC #ConEd curbside pilot?  Utilization jumped from ~27 % in Year  1 to over 70 % with some chargers nearly maxed out. But here’s the kicker: the report also flags many maintenance issues – especially for attached cables. 💅 Announcing, it’s electric #LA The City of Los Angeles LADOT has selected it’s electric to expand access to local neighborhood EV charging with 90 new curbside charging ports. The new chargers will replace those previously part of the BlueLA carshare network, bringing fully public charging access to more neighborhoods and more Angelenos. This initiative marks a major milestone in Los Angeles effort to advance clean transportation, offering drivers more neighborhood Level-2 charging stations available 24/7 at convenient curbside locations across the city. These new stations will also scale the country’s first #detachable (#BYOC) cable EV charging solution, with the first 15 chargers opening in November and December in Koreatown. #Ktown drivers, we’re ready for you. For folks asking how it is going.... After 6 months of live chargers we have some more data 👀 #Utilization in just one of our key cities is now seeing 56% for #curbside. There is a reason for this. it's electric is the only EV charging solution that is #community requested and #building powered. Meaning we can go #anywhere where drivers want us. Simply #anywhere there is a building and a curb. What’s better than that?! Feedback like this: "If not for the it's electric chargers in the neighborhood, I wouldn't have bought an EV!" "I think it's a great initiative, and completely changed my options when deciding on my car purchase." "I’ve been loving having access to charging in my neighborhood!"

📣 it's electric, DTE Energy, and Bedrock Detroit announce another first for the City of Detroit. 📣 it’s electric has been awarded their second grant from DTE’s Emerging Technology Fund. In collaboration with Bedrock Properties, it’s electric is installing one of Detroit’s first #managed #EV charging programs to provide evidence for the benefits of managed charging for; grid stability, energy savings, and the reduction of capital costs for EV chargers.
