About us
Kubernetes is an open source system for managing containerized applications across multiple hosts. Kubernetes builds upon a decade and a half of experience at Google running production workloads at scale using a system called Borg, combined with best-of-breed ideas and practices from the community. Kubernetes is hosted by the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF). If your company wants to help shape the evolution of technologies that are container-packaged, dynamically scheduled, and microservices-oriented, consider joining the CNCF. For details about who's involved and how Kubernetes plays a role, read the CNCF announcement.

Want to contribute to Open Source Kubernetes and not sure where to start? Join this month's Kubernetes New Contributor Orientation (NCO) - a friendly, welcoming session that helps you understand how the Kubernetes project is structured, where you can get involved and common pitfalls you can avoid. It's also a great way to meet senior community members within the Kubernetes community and have your questions answered by them! 🗓️ Next session: Tuesday, 18th November 2025 EMEA/APAC-friendly: 1:30 PT / 8:30 UTC / 10:30 CET / 15:00 IST AMER-friendly: 8:30 PT / 15:30 UTC / 17:30 CET / 22:00 IST 📍 Learn More: https://lnkd.in/gZPrP95Z Here’s what past attendee Ludo, who is now actively contributing to CNCF's Elekto had to say: "The New Contributor Orientation was insightful, helping me make sense of the Kubernetes project, adjacent CNCF projects and how contribution to these projects would work. It made me realise that these projects are very welcoming of new contributors and that partaking in open source via CNCF has many gradations of commitment. The Kubernetes project is very complex, but it turned out there was a Flask project (Elekto) that was in need of contributors. That project – both in terms of tech and size – was perfect for me. It was the final push for me to get started with open source." Whether you're interested in code, docs or the community, attending the NCO will give you the clarity and confidence to take your first step within Open-Source Kubernetes. And the best part? No experience required, just curiosity and the willingness to learn. #Kubernetes #FOSS #OpenSource #KubernetesDev
