There’s more to better care than just medicine. For 39 days, Steven has been receiving care for lymphoma on floor 16E at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. When the nurse manager on the floor found out that Steven could play guitar, she brought one in for him. Steven’s joy quickly spread. Steven serenaded the patients and staff on the floor. We’re grateful for our patients and staff. We’re grateful for moments like these. We’re grateful for followers like you. We hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

We take medicine really seriously. That’s why it’s so important to step away sometimes and have some laughs. When the staff on Northwestern Medicine Prentice Women’s Hospital Floor 6 let me know they were planning an event with a self-proclaimed terrible portraitist, I was happy to stop by and model for him. He did not disappoint. In this season of gratitude, I’m thankful for colleagues with a sense of humor! #NMBetter

Lung cancer remains the deadliest cancer in the U.S. Early stages often cause no symptoms, which means most cases are detected at a stage when treatment is much more difficult. Northwestern Medicine is leading the charge to change that. Current lung cancer screening guidelines exclude many people who are at risk. In a new study, published on JAMA Network, Northwestern Medicine scientists recommend expanding the universal age-based screening to 40-85. They estimate this would detect 94% of lung cancers, preventing more than 26,000 extra deaths annually. Our new Northwestern Medicine Lung Health Center is helping make this vision a reality by offering no cost lung screenings in #Chicago. These comprehensive low-dose CT scans help detect lung conditions early and establish a baseline for lifelong health monitoring—redefining preventive care and advocating for universal age-based screening. To schedule a no-cost* lung screening: 📞 Call 312.695.1800 (TTY: 711) and mention the Northwestern Medicine Lung Health Center 📩 Email lunghealthcenter@nm.org *A risk assessment is conducted by a healthcare provider to determine eligibility.* For more information: 🔗 Lung Health Center Website: https://lnkd.in/gJxRQqsT 🧬 Read the JAMA study: https://lnkd.in/gB8KdHSV #LungCancerAwareness #EarlyDetection #NMBetter Pictured: Danielle Kozminski Hoeg, Ankit Bharat
