Last month may have been #MenopauseAwarenessMonth, but menopause should be a topic that we discuss year-round. Every year, 1.3 million women in the U.S. enter menopause, but most never receive treatment for symptoms that can affect every aspect of their well-being. For Sara Pereda, finding compassionate, personalized support at Amazon One Medical made all the difference. Her story reflects an important shift underway in women’s health. REAL Primary Care 2025 was everything we'd hoped for and more. More than 300 clinicians from both One Medical and outside of our community gathered to listen, learn and connect. Highlights included the beautiful Terranea resort property which supported attendees to renew and restore, the Friday welcome reception where people shared space and connected, and inspirational keynote speakers Dr. Vivek Murthy and Dr. Lisa Sanders who both captured our full attention and hearts. We also held a series of sessions and hands-on workshops led by experts both inside and beyond primary care who all collaborated and learned from each other. A few common quotes and themes we heard: "At a lot of CME conferences, we often hear about new research, but at REAL, I learned things that I can apply right away when I get back to my patients on Monday." "In our day to day practice, we are heads-down focused on our patients. Here, we got to lift our heads up, connect with like-minded clinicians and reconnect with our own purpose." "I came to REAL to learn, but perhaps more importantly, I'm leaving feeling connected - both to others and to myself. I met people here that I've never met in person before, and now they are my friends. And I can't wait to see them again next year." "I think the biggest thing I'm taking away from REAL 2025 is to slow down and truly listen to my patients. By letting them tell their stories, we'll get the diagnosis." We’re excited to share results from our recent study on integrating musculoskeletal (MSK) care expertise into a primary care setting. Our research with 1,563 patients demonstrates the power of our innovative approach: ⚪Our integrated approach achieved a 17% reduction in physical therapy visits needed for recovery, saving $193-$1,411 in PT costs per injury, leading to getting better faster. ⚪Patients were highly satisfied with their care, with an overall NPS of 97 for tele-physical therapy. ⚪97.5% of patients met or exceeded recovery expectations through our multidisciplinary care model, which included tele-physical therapy and musculoskeletal toolkits for our primary care providers. ⚪Patients achieved significantly greater improvements in functional status compared to national benchmarked controls. By implementing our five-component intervention (multidisciplinary teams, shared technology, expert consultation, educational rounds, and provider toolkits), we've proven that bringing MSK expertise directly into primary care improves outcomes while reducing costs.
