East Stokes in University Circle is advancing in Cleveland, introducing new residential, retail, and workplace uses within one of the city’s most active districts. SCB is leading the design of this mixed-use development, which will bring 269 apartments, 17,000 SF of retail, and 12,500 SF of office space to support the district’s ongoing evolution. In collaboration with PCP, our approach focuses on a cohesive, context-driven design that strengthens connectivity and enhances the neighborhood experience.

Yesterday, SCB and AECOM Hunt Clayco Bowa JV attended the ENR Midwest Regional Projects Breakfast to accept an Award of Merit for the Terminal 5 Parking Garage at Chicago O’Hare International Airport. Selected for exemplary quality, innovative thinking, and the ability to deliver complex work at a high standard, the Terminal 5 Parking Garage strengthens the overall arrival and departure experience at O’Hare. Its distinct architectural expression and clear organization enhance circulation and support the continued evolution of the airport campus. Congratulations to our project partners! The next addition to Evanston’s skyline is on the way. 605 Davis has been approved! Rising 29 stories, the tower will become Evanston’s tallest residential building. SCB’s design introduces 419 apartments, integrated parking, and active ground-floor retail, adding vibrancy to the city’s downtown core. Alloy, designed by SCB, brings vertical living to the heart of Los Angeles’ historic Arts District. As the neighborhood’s first high-rise, the 35-story residential tower introduces a new living experience to an area long defined by its creative energy and warehouse-scale urban fabric. The tower offers 475 apartments in a contemporary interpretation of the district’s architectural character. Its façade draws inspiration from the strong grids and materiality of the neighborhood’s historic factory and warehouse buildings. An amenity-rich program prioritizes wellness and indoor–outdoor living, including a gallery bar and event space, pool deck, fitness center, spa, and a rooftop sundeck with sweeping views of Downtown LA and the San Gabriel and San Bernardino Mountains. At street level, Alloy meets the neighborhood with a new public paseo connecting Santa Fe and Mateo Streets, creating a pedestrian link and a distinctly local front door for the tower. The Bell was named Office Redevelopment of the Year at the NAIOP Chicago Awards! With nearly one million square feet spread across 31 stories, the Bell has been transformed into a workplace destination that reflects its bold origins and a renewed spirit of innovation. SCB led the architectural and interior design efforts for this transformation, including a fully reimagined lobby, a new bar and restaurant, and three levels of next-generation amenity space. Tim M. Stevens, AIA LEED AP, a Principal in SCB’s Campus Environments practice group, will join Heidi Scribner, Associate Vice Chancellor, Auxiliary Services, University of California, Riverside and Ann Volz, President, Volz Company at the NACAS Conference on November 18th to discuss innovative design and development strategies to address the complex challenges of housing affordability for students. The session will explore the construction of the SCB-designed North District Phase 2 at the University of California, Riverside, a unique collaboration between UCR and the Riverside Community College District to create an intersegmental student residential community on the UCR campus. The panel will share practical tools and lessons learned from the project, which welcomed its first residents this fall. SCB’s latest student residential community is 3rd and West at Purdue University. Opening its doors for the Fall 2025 semester, the building is an anchor for student life in the burgeoning Discovery Park innovation district. Delivered through a public-private partnership, 3rd and West is SCB’s 17th project with American Campus Communities, and its first at Purdue University. “In designing 3rd and West, we saw the opportunity to shape a unique outdoor community space. By anchoring the community’s main amenity spaces in the center, we created two distinct courtyards that offer students a place to unwind, connect, and recharge," says SCB Associate Principal and Senior Designer Monica Willemsen, AIA, NOMA. "The highly transparent ground floor amenities immerse these indoor community spaces into the outdoor landscape and give glimpses between one courtyard and the other. This has a way of making the spaces feel private and shared at the same time. City Council approval marks the next step in transforming 135 South LaSalle—once the heart of Chicago’s financial district—into a vibrant, mixed-use destination. SCB is collaborating with Riverside Investment & Development Company, AmTrustRE, and DL3 Realty to adapt the historic Field Building into new residential and commercial space, bringing renewed energy to LaSalle Street and shaping a more connected Loop.

SCB, in partnership with Studio ORD, took part in the Law Enforcement Torch Run Plane Pull at O’Hare International Airport, supporting Special Olympics Illinois. The annual event transforms the tarmac into a test of teamwork and strength, challenging groups of up to 20 to raise funds and pull a 95,000-pound United Airlines 737 plane a distance of 12 feet as fast as possible. SCB’s team rose to the challenge, clocking a pull time of 7.940 seconds! Together, participants helped raise more than $141,000 in support of Special Olympics Illinois.
