FK was thrilled to attend the Sustainability Summit 2025 at the Fullerton Hotel, Sydney – a collection of inspirational industry leaders shaping the future of Australia’s built environment. We were proud to be part of the conversation and contribute to the discussions that are driving positive change. Jessica Lee led a timely conversation on the embodied carbon dilemma, unpacking the tough decisions surrounding demolition, retrofit, and rebuild. She highlighted how smarter, more nuanced thinking can shift the dial on carbon-intensive commercial assets, drawing on lessons from FK’s portfolio including the completed Midtown Centre in Brisbane, The Alba in Melbourne, and the under-construction 450 Queen Street project in Brisbane. James Pearce tackled one of Australia’s most pressing issues — the housing crisis. His panel unpacked the structural forces driving affordability and supply constraints, highlighting the urgent need for new delivery models, thoughtful design, and genuine collaboration. He drew on insights from leading apartment projects such as One Shiel Street and the character-rich, medium-density approach at Noetic Place in Melbourne. Angela Biddle moderated a fascinating session on designing for health and wellbeing, highlighting how research and innovative design are reshaping environments to better support people at every scale. Projects such as Canberra’s Crystalbrook Aurora, with its integrated wellness level, are setting a new benchmark for the future of wellness-oriented hospitality design.
