Shelter and openness in perfect balance. The Mowbray sits modestly within its context, perched across the road from the Mowbray Park. Populated with a plethora of fig trees, we adapted our design to feature a colonnade of branching columns and unique shading devices as inspired by the trees roots and leaves. About us
DKO was founded in 2000. Its founding partners Koos de Keijzer and Zvonko Orsanic were keen to independently implement their own vision: the creation of ingenious spaces that are appreciated by the eyes, mind and soul alike. Within a decade the practice - with Koos de Keijzer as Principal - has grown from its humble beginnings to a design powerhouse in the Asia-Pacific region. DKO is a multidisciplinary team of 300 professionals working across six offices in Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia. At DKO we approach all projects with our heads firmly on our shoulders. We utilise logic to interpret our canvas into unique and effective designs. We aim to be as culturally aware and people savvy as possible to understand and appreciate the different ways they tick. We open our minds to the creative possibilities and rely on a solid and united team to implement them. DKO plans to evolve into a globally oriented entity that uses the growth of its individual team members to progress further as a business and creative institution. DKO has already cemented itself as being at the forefront of residential design. Still in the pipeline are countless more diverse projects from bespoke residences to luxury hotels, unique hospitality and workplace interiors, urban design and large-scale master planning, testament to the versatility of DKO’s design team. With the planet’s economic, cultural and environmental futures already highly capricious, architecture is one method we can use to control and to adapt to changing times. At DKO we have proven we understand when to flex with the wind and when to stand tall against it. Finally, we never lose sight of the most fundamental quality that connects all great design – people. Through human understanding, we maximise potential and can deliver architecture at its utmost excellence.

Unlike typical suburban builds, The Belmont Collection draws inspiration from prestigious estates worldwide, creating a protected community with timeless architecture. A central park, BBQ area, fire pit, parcel lockers, and EV charging stations make it more than just housing, but a lifestyle precinct made for family living. Seeing this project shortlisted in the UDIA Victoria Awards is a special testament to our design approach and ability to bring our client's visions to life. With Branson Group, we aspired to create a community which families would flourish and we're grateful to be recognised. Client: Branson Group Builder: SAW Constructions

Adaptive reuse isn’t just about saving buildings, it’s about rewriting their future. With Aileen Sage, we've transformed five warehouses on Wentworth Avenue to revitalise its historical and social setting. Director of Architecture & Growth, Rupert Reed discussed the design approach with Clémence Carayol from Architecture & Design (Australia), exploring how architecture can be both a custodian of history and a catalyst for change. "The design intent of the entire team was to maintain as much of the heritage fabric as possible as we are all passionate advocates of the reuse economy." A special thank you to Willow Group for working with us on this legacy development. Ambitious projects like Wentworth Avenue aren’t possible without partners who believe in the power of design to shape communities and champion bold ideas. An art strategy like no other. At Tombo Den, a provocative series of AI-generated neo-noir pieces by Tom Blachford are central to the venue's identity. Designed to evoke a dystopian, secretive Japanese den, these artworks depict the brooding mood of late-night Tokyo. 📍Bunurong and Wurundjeri Client: Lucas Collective Builder: Directitude Artwork: Tom Blachford
