We provide end-to-end supervision of offenders, with custodial and community corrections working together in partnership to achieve positive outcomes. As a professional, transparent and accountable learning organisation, we are committed to the humane containment, supervision and rehabilitation of offenders. People are at the heart of our business, and officer safety is an absolute priority. Everyone deserves a safe workplace, and we have a duty of care to provide safe environments for officers and the offenders in our custody and supervision. We expect the highest degree of professionalism and ethical behaviour from our officers at all times. We manage approximately 28,000 of the most challenging and difficult people in our community. Nearly 20,000 of those are managed by Community Corrections officers who work in the community and play a vital role in reducing recidivism. • Individual and team distinction were celebrated at the 2025 QCS Commissioner’s Awards for Excellence in Brisbane today! 🎉🤩 Winners were recognised by Queensland Corrective Services Commissioner Paul Stewart APM for their commitment to restoring community safety by holding offenders to account, reducing reoffending through rehabilitative services, supporting a safer workplace and building strong partnerships with community stakeholders. The highest accolade – the Commissioner’s Overall Award - was awarded to multiple teams for their joint efforts that went above and beyond when responding to Tropical Cyclone Alfred in early 2025. Officers led by example in challenging conditions, including leaving their families, to maintain the safety and security of correctional facilities across southeast Queensland during the weather event. 📰 READ MORE + WINNER'S LIST: https://lnkd.in/gtp_ZyYF

  • Offenders on community service in the Mackay and Roma regions have been put to work making beanies for premature babies as they make their reparations to the community. The initiative is helping to reform offenders and deliver safer communities one stitch at a time. Over 150 beanies were donated to Mackay Base Hospital and 14 were donated to Roma Hospital. Community Corrections offices throughout Queensland partner with not-for-profit organisations and local councils to supervise offenders performing community service work, including maintenance activities and graffiti removal, providing offenders the opportunity to develop life and vocational skills and contribute positively to society so that we have safer communities and fewer victims of crime. 📸 Maranoa Today and Daily Mercury

  • We've travelled North to see how Townsville Men’s Low Custody Correctional Centre is helping the community prepare for storm season, by assisting the local SES with sandbagging activities! We’ve already seen destructive weather hit the Southeast corner in recent weeks, and Townsville and the Far North is certainly no stranger to heavy rain and flooding – with preparation making all the difference to resilience and recovery. The initiative expands on existing projects at Maryborough Correctional Centre and Innisfail Work Camp where prisoners regularly lend a hand by filling sandbags and delivering other preparation activities ahead of potential severe weather events.
