She WON! 🕷❤🏆 A remarkable achievement for an extraordinary young woman. ❤ Congratulations to our student, Charlotte Stent, who has been awarded Young Woman of the Year at the 2025 Gold Coast Bulletin Women of the Year Awards. Charlotte’s accomplishments extend far beyond the stage. • 📱 Social media age restrictions are coming From 10 December, Australian children under 16 can no longer create or keep certain social media accounts under new Australian laws. This isn’t a ban—it’s a delay to give young people more time to develop safe and healthy digital habits. This change is part of the Australian Government’s broader initiative to enhance online safety and reduce exposure to online harm for young people. The eSafety Commissioner’s social media age restrictions hub has more details—including resources specifically designed for schools to help students, educators and parents through this transition. • This week, 22 exceptional Year 10 students from across the state—from Goondiwindi to Cairns—took part in the 2025 Creative Generation Visual Art In Residence program in Brisbane. Delivered in partnership with QAGOMA, this 3-day immersive experience offers students and teachers an opportunity to connect, create and explore in one of the nation’s leading cultural institutions. The 2025 program featured renowned Brisbane-based artist Ross Manning, whose work and processes shaped student workshops and creative exploration. Participants also toured and engaged with staff from: • The Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA) • Queensland College of Art and Design • Griffith University Art Museum Each student developed an original artwork, to be exhibited in a curated digital gallery produced by QAGOMA. A huge thank you to our partner organisations and the dedicated educators involved in inspiring creativity, critical thinking and artistic excellence in Queensland state schools. #CreativeGeneration #CGENVisualArt #QAGOMA #ArtsEducation

  • When the wellbeing team brings the strategy and the vibes! Shoutout to the incredible student wellbeing team at Yeronga State High School, who recently came together to review and strengthen their School Wellbeing Policy, with the help of honorary guest “SBen” the support chicken (named in honour of principal Ben Orford). Behind the laughs and good energy is a deeply committed team of educators, health professionals, and support staff working collaboratively to create a safe, inclusive, and responsive school environment. This is what a whole-school approach to wellbeing looks like in action. Well done, Yeronga State High School.

Wellbeing work with wellbeing vibes. On Tuesday our Student Wellbeing Team gathered to review and strengthen our School Wellbeing Policy. Chris brought along our newest honorary member “SBen” (named in honour of Mr Orford), who definitely helped break the ice. Our team includes Guidance Officers Nikki Shaw, Nic Taschke and Suzie Fullerton, First Nations CEC Lani Jackway, YSC Chris Perry, Student Support Lisa Williamson, Psychologist Huda Shaik, SBYHN Esther McCall, Chaplain Jennifer Bennett (morning tea MVP), HEAL Art Therapist Conny Rodgers, Link & Launch Coordinator Serena Camileri, and our Team Leader/Deputy Principal Sheridan Townsley. Grateful for this passionate and supportive team who consistently show up for our students. 🙂 💚 💛
