RSL Queensland team members rolled up their sleeves last week to pack hundreds of Christmas hampers for veterans and their families 🎄🎅🎁 Now in its sixth year, our Christmas hamper initiative has delivered thousands of hampers to the veteran community across Australia. Each hamper is packed full of products from local and veteran-owned businesses and comes with a handwritten Christmas card. To all our team members who helped with packing the hampers, thank you for bringing a little extra cheer to veterans this Christmas.

RSL Queensland recently attended the Queensland premiere of ‘Forged Under Fire’, a historical documentary about the Australian troops and Arab Revolt forces who fought alongside each other against the Ottoman Empire during World War I. The screening took place at The Southport School on the Gold Coast – an institution with a proud legacy of service. Distinguished guests attended from around the region, including RSL Queensland State Vice President Brigadier Arran Hassell CSC. Members of TSS’s Cadet Program were also in attendance, giving them an opportunity to learn more about this important chapter of ANZAC history. Australian Light Horse Association Queensland Director Kym Flehr was joined by Chris Rowen, Troop Commander of the 11th Light Horse Darling Downs, and his horse, Frazzle, at a wreath laying ceremony following the film. Today is Remembrance Day - the anniversary of the armistice that ended World War I. At 11am - the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month – Australia will pause to reflect on the courage of those who sacrificed so much for the freedoms we enjoy today. Remembrance Day acknowledges all service personnel who have served in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations. Wherever you are at 11am, please take a moment to observe a minute’s silence in remembrance of the fallen. Lest we forget. 📸 Australian War Memorial | Australian troops at Ypres in 1917 #RemembranceDay #RememberToRemember
