  • 👩🏫 “I wanted to play with them, but I didn’t know how to ask.” Moments like this happen every day and they’re rich opportunities to teach social and emotional learning (SEL). SEL isn’t a one-time lesson. It’s a progressive, whole learning community approach that helps children and young people build the skills they need to understand themselves, relate to others and make thoughtful decisions. The Collaborative for Academic, Social and Emotional Learning (CASEL) identifies 5 key areas of SEL that educators can embed into everyday practice: ✅Self-awareness: recognising and understanding emotions, thoughts and strengths ✅Self-management: regulating behaviour and working toward goals ✅Social awareness: showing empathy and respecting diverse perspectives ✅Relationship skills: communicating, cooperating and resolving conflict in a constructive way ✅Responsible decision-making: making ethical, constructive choices When SEL is embedded into routines, relationships and curriculum, it supports wellbeing, engagement and learning, from childhood through to adolescence. 📄 Download the fact sheet: Five Areas of Social and Emotional Learning 👉 https://bit.ly/48P1xD0 #BeYou #SocialEmotionalLearning #WellbeingInEducation #TeachingStrategies
