Congratulations to Stride Treglown for winning Best Development over £20m at this week's Inside Housing Awards, for Gwynfaen, a 144-home, ultra-low carbon development just outside Swansea. We supported the development, recommending technologies to meet high levels of thermal efficiency, with residents' energy and maintenance costs in mind, as well as conducting a life-cycle assessment to reduce embodied carbon. A real milestone for the Earls Court project, with the resolution to grant planning permission confirmed last night. We worked with The Earls Court Development Company on their Sustainable Development Charter to support the setting of long-term sustainability goals, and helped identify the energy systems, water strategy, circular economy and whole life carbon targets that are needed to achieve them. We also provided mechanical, electrical and public health engineering, utility infrastructure, masterplan vertical transportation, facade access, acoustic and vibration, fire engineering and air quality monitoring services. Congratulations to all involved!
It was a proud moment last night as Hammersmith & Fulham Council unanimously resolved to grant planning permission for the Hybrid Planning Application in their borough for development of the former Earls Court Exhibition Centres site. This is a major milestone for one of London’s most significant development opportunities and reflects years of partnership with residents, community groups, businesses and local leaders. Earls Court will be an economic powerhouse for the UK, bringing £3bn per annum in GVA with around £1bn directly benefiting the local economy around the site. This will be city-making at its best, transforming a long-empty site into a resilient new neighbourhood with c.4,000 homes (35% affordable), 12,000 jobs, three cultural venues and 20 acres of public realm and green space. With 2.5 million sq. ft. of workspace focused on climate innovation, Earls Court will play a central role in Upstream London and help drive the next chapter of WestTech London. We are committed to design excellence across the proposals. The first affordable homes in Hammersmith & Fulham have been designed by Stirling Prize winning architects dRMM, ensuring high-quality housing from the outset. With our award-winning Public Realm Inclusivity Panel, we have also set a new benchmark for inclusive design, consultation and social impact. We are grateful to all who have shaped these proposals, to the Committee members for their careful consideration and deliberations. We are now preparing for a planning committee in RBKC to be held by the end of the year. Subject to approvals in both boroughs, we are looking to mobilise for the first phase, getting on site as quickly as possible to deliver the homes and jobs that London needs. A huge thanks also goes to all our consultants, who have worked tirelessly alongside the ECDC team to shape the strongest possible proposals for those who live, work in and visit Hammersmith & Fulham. 🎄 This festive season, we’re not simply sending you a virtual card with sparkles, baubles and tinsel on it. But don’t fret, we do have Sparkles, Baubles and Tinsel for you to play with. ✨ ⛷️ Have you ever wondered how far a narwhal could fly? Or whether a polar bear’s ferocious nature helps him nail a landing? Or if penguins really should be able to use their wings for lift rather than flap? Wonder no longer! Our Christmas elves have taken it upon themselves to create Fly Hard – a retro style ski jump game where you choose your character and see how far they can fly! Click on this link to see how far you can fly https://lnkd.in/eGt-myF9 Don’t forget to enter your initials to see if you can reach the top of the leaderboard. We’re donating to The Lighthouse Charity as our Christmas gift this year – this charity works hard to support anyone in the construction industry with their mental health, which we know can be a struggle for some at this time of year.

Highlighted in red: the civic heart of the Oxford North innovation district. A striking focal point, marked out as a key building to be used by all site occupants, visitors, and the wider public, The Red Hall nods to the St John's College coat of arms with its bold, bright exterior, while its sinusoidal metal cladding refers to the functional, productive character of Oxford’s manufacturing traditions. Phase 1A is now complete... "It’s a proud moment to see the distinctive buildings on Oxford’s skyline. We’re excited to see the site become a hive of activity and innovation, and a new landmark in the city." Read more: https://lnkd.in/e_eJWUDx Iain Hughes Steve Delvin Oxford North

Presenting... the newly completed Oren. Really proud to have contributed our mechanical and electrical expertise to this #laterliving project in London. As well as green roofs with photovoltaic panels, bird boxes built into the brickwork, and a ground floor that nestles into the surrounding terrain, it has strategic upper-floor ‘setbacks’ designed to allow the all-electric building to blend in better with the area and its natural character. https://lnkd.in/e-y9qmH8

Two of our brightest young engineers were commended at the recent SoPHE Awards. Harry Robbiati and Juliana Santos attended the Young Engineers Plumbing competition in June at Southbank Technical College along with other professional engineers from a range of consultancies and were partnered with students from the college to answer questions and solve problems. We were delighted to find out that Harry achieved 2nd place and Juliana was highly commended. As part of his award, Harry has the opportunity to travel to Ghana with the sponsor, Village by Village to assist the volunteers helping rural and remote African villages. These accolades are testament both to their hard work and on the job training they’ve received at Hoare Lea. We can’t wait to find out what they do next. Congratulations!
