About us
Our Mission: Children's Aid helps children in poverty to succeed and thrive. We do this by providing comprehensive supports to children and their families in targeted high-needs New York City neighborhoods. For 170 years, Children’s Aid has been committed to ensuring that there are no boundaries to the aspirations of young people, no limits to their potential. We are leading a comprehensive counterattack on the obstacles that threatens kids’ achievement in school and in life. At Children’s Aid, we are teachers and social workers, coaches and health care providers. We know what it takes to ensure children grow up strong and healthy, and ready to thrive in school and life.

At Children’s Aid, we know that helping a child succeed starts with supporting the family around them. Our CEO, Phoebe Boyer, joined Robin Hood's This Robin Hood Moment podcast to talk about how New York City’s rising costs are shaping the lives — and choices — of parents across the city. Congratulations 🎉 are in order for our President and CEO, Phoebe Boyer, on this well-deserved recognition as one of City & State’s 2025 Women Power 100. This achievement reflects her unwavering dedication to expanding opportunities for the young people and families we serve. Her leadership guides our work every step of the way and inspires us all at Children’s Aid.
As we head into Thanksgiving week, I’m especially grateful — and deeply honored — to be named to this year’s City & State Women Power 100 list, particularly among such an illustrious group of women who are shaping New York’s future. This recognition reflects the incredible work happening every day at Children's Aid and the dedication of our staff, partners, and supporters who show up with purpose and heart to help young people and families thrive. Leadership is never a solo effort. I’m continually inspired by the strength of our communities and the unwavering passion of our team. Together, we are expanding opportunities, driving impact, and ensuring that every child has the support they need to succeed. Thank you to City & State for this acknowledgment, and congratulations to all the remarkable women on this list who are making a meaningful difference across New York. Last night’s "I Am NYC: Community Drawing Together” art show brought together teens, families, and community members in a powerful celebration of identity, connection, and creativity. Facilitated by teen leaders from our Lexington Academy as part of the “More Life, Rise Above Hate” program, youth created self-portraits highlighting the words, imagery, and pride they feel as New Yorkers. Over 100 attendees explored 36 unique portraits, enjoyed refreshments, and supported a petition advocating for anti-hate and anti-bias curriculum in NY schools. #ChildrensAidNYC #YouthVoices #RiseAboveHate #ArtsForChange #IAmNYC
