My latest entry into Brainz Magazine is linked below. In it, I explore how presenteeism - a behaviour that is usually recognised in being an employee (e.g. working longer than we should, working when we're poorly) shows up when self-employed, what the impact is and what we can do to notice the signs of pushing too far. #counselling #clinicalsupervision #privatepractice #burnoutprevention
Have you ever pushed through work despite feeling emotionally or mentally drained? What would it look like if we gave the same care to therapists as they give to their clients? "The Problem of Presenteeism in Counselling Private Practice and What You Can Do About It" sheds light on a silent issue affecting many mental health professionals. The article explores why counsellors often feel pressured to keep working despite burnout and offers practical strategies to restore balance, maintain boundaries, and protect both therapist and client well-being. Do you feel stressed, worried or anxious at work? Anxiety is the number one mental health issue among American workers, according to an American Psychological Association study. This month I've done multiple presentations on "Managing Worry and Anxiety" to corporations, and the response has been eye opening. Virtually every person on each session is dealing with stress, worry and anxiety at work, and it's not easy to manage. If you have an EAP option at your work, don't be afraid to use it. Have a conversation with someone who can talk you through it. And as always, I believe in you. #ibelieveinyou #careercoach #corporateculture
