Yesterday marked our final Multilingual Mingle Celebration for the year, hosted by our CEO, Kwame Selormey for Multicultural Community Leaders in the Top end. This regular gathering brought forward essential discussions — this one was particularly a debrief with the community leaders about the impact of Cyclone Fina. What helped, what could we do differently next time? Leaders shared what they and their communities experienced, where communication succeeded, and where gaps appeared. They reaffirmed the united nature of multicultural people across the territory. These insights are invaluable, and they will directly inform how we strengthen communication pathways and community preparedness moving into 2026. We appreciate every leader who contributed their voice and perspective. You have helped shape the direction of our work and highlighted the responsibility we carry in supporting multicultural communities across the Northern Territory. We look forward to reconnecting next year.

An essential read to understand how to support victims of domestic and family violence in refugee communities, ahead of next year's conference. STARTTS | NSW Service for the Treatment and Rehabilitation of Torture and Trauma Survivors
We’re delighted to be featured in the summer edition of Women's Network Australia magazine, highlighting our upcoming conference panel Intersecting Traumas: DFV after Displacement. This is a timely and deeply significant conversation about the complex ways family and gender-based violence intersects with experiences of displacement. The article brings features some of our panel’s highly experienced voices: Juliana Nkrumah AM, whose decades-long leadership in gender equality and refugee women’s empowerment has inspired change nationally and globally; Maria Dimopoulos AM, CEO of the Settlement Council of Australia and a tireless advocate for women’s rights and cross-cultural understanding; and Nimo Ahmed, co-founder of The Sisterhood, who has established safe spaces and leadership opportunities for refugee women in Indonesia. We’re also very pleased to round out our panel with Vahid Momtaz, a practitioner supporting refugees in New Zealand, whose work focuses on violence prevention and mental health interventions for displaced families. Thank you to Women’s Network Australia for shining a light on this important work. You can read the feature now on WNA's website, and register to be part of this vital discussion here: https://lnkd.in/girxuAyN STARTTS | NSW Service for the Treatment and Rehabilitation of Torture and Trauma Survivors QPASTT Foundation House Victoria (VFST Inc.) The NT Governance Forum was held in Darwin, 7 November and brought together industry experts to discuss key issues in governance, risk management and compliance. The discussions emphasised the importance of fostering accountability and a strong governance culture across all levels of an organisation. Melaleuca Australia Chair, Ross Springolo fantastically MC’d the event and was attended by Deputy CEO, Erin Plumb, Manager Community Services Hugo Granados, Manager Corporate & Executive Belle Allison. Key takeaways · Compliance is everyone’s responsibility · Good governance is a culture, not just a process The Governance Institute of Australia decided that instead of presenting gifts to the speakers at the event, they would make a donation to Melaleuca Australia. This thoughtful gesture means so much to us and our clients – thank you for your kindness and generosity.

Melaleuca is thrilled to be heading to the 2025 National Settlement Conference, hosted by the Settlement Council of Australia, under the inspiring theme “From Dreaming to Doing: Regional Futures.” Our CEO, Kwame Selormey, will be facilitating the session “Futureproofing Regional Australia” — a forward-looking conversation on how regional communities can thrive by 2050 through person-centred migration, strong cultural and social infrastructure, and locally tailored approaches that turn ideas into action. This year’s conference promises to be one of the most energising yet, with thought-provoking sessions, visionary keynote speakers, and powerful discussions about belonging, innovation, and the future of settlement in Australia. It’s where big ideas meet practical solutions — and where collaboration truly comes alive. Join us on the Sunshine Coast from 19–21 November 2025 at the beautiful Novotel Resort, alongside changemakers from across the country who are shaping inclusive, connected, and resilient communities. Don’t miss out — it’s going to be an incredible few days of inspiration, learning, and action. 👉 https://lnkd.in/gEDWR-d3 #SCOA2025 #RegionalFutures #WeShareADream #SettlementServices #Inclusion #Migration #SocialCohesion #MelaleucaAustralia
