Today is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and marks the start of 16 Days of Activism against gender-based violence. This year’s theme is “UNiTE to End Digital Violence against All Women and Girls”. At Telco, we believe digital inclusion is critical to the safety, recovery and empowerment of women experiencing domestic and family violence (DFV). Examples of how digital inclusion enables positive outcomes: • 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 – online awareness campaigns and education • 𝗘𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 – access to crisis support like Triple 000 and 1800 RESPECT • 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 – setting up new online accounts, finding housing, applying for jobs and grants. Our Digital Inclusion Strategy works with the DFV sector, lived experience advocates and government agencies to improve connectivity, affordability, digital ability, accessibility, trust and safety for victim-survivors. Together, we can make digital access a lifeline for those who need it most. #NSWTelcoAuthority #IDEVAW #16Days #EndViolenceAgainstWomen #NoExcuse #ACTtoEndViolence #UNITE #DFV #DomesticandFamilyViolence #DigitalInclusionStrategy #DigitalInclusion UN Women UN Women Australia

What an inspiring week at the Liquid Learning Women in Leadership Summit 2025 in Sydney. It was great to join hundreds of leaders from across business, government, health, education, energy and tech at The Crown, connecting with trailblazers and rising stars committed to shaping the future of leadership in Australia. Our Executive Director of Customer and Emergency Management, Rania Wannous, took to the stage to share her journey and the impact of NSW’s first Digital Inclusion Strategy. Rania’s message resonated with all: 💬 “Access to the internet and digital technologies is not a nice-to-have – it is a necessity for equitable participation in society. It is the gateway to information, education, job opportunities and essential services.” The summit delivered practical strategies, powerful stories and opportunities to build a network of peers driving real transformation. Rania’s leadership journey reminds us that before inclusion can occur, we must first identify exclusion, understand the barriers and co-create solutions that reflect lived experience. Thanks to Liquid Learning for bringing together an extraordinary lineup of speakers and for championing the journey to real-world digital inclusion. #NSWTelcoAuthority #WomenInLeadership #Empowerment #LeadershipSummit #ProfessionalDevelopment #LeadershipGrowth #FutureOfLeadership #WomenLeaders #Leadership #DigitalInclusion

We’re delighted to announce that we have won the Creating Safe, Thriving Communities award at the 2025 NSW Premier’s Awards for our Broadband Cells on Wheels (COWs) initiative. 🏆 Broadband COWs provide emergency Wi-Fi when communities need it most – during natural disasters, outages and major events – helping people stay connected and informed. As Lachlan Camp, Product Delivery Manager, said: “This recognition reflects our commitment to keeping communities connected when it matters most. The Broadband COWs program provides internet access during outages in key locations, such as Evacuation Centres. This enables people to contact loved ones, access vital services, and stay informed in times of crisis." The NSW Digital Inclusion Strategy (DIS) is about ensuring everyone can participate and thrive in a connected future. That's why we’re proud to support the launch of the 2025 Australian Digital Inclusion Index (ADII), which tracks how Australians access, afford and use digital technologies. 📊 At last week’s launch, our DIS Program Manager, Nicole Rossini, joined the panel to share how collaboration across government, industry and community is driving real change in NSW. As Nicole said: “Digital inclusion isn’t just about technology. It’s about people, equity and opportunity. The ADII gives us the data we need; the DIS gives us the framework; and through our partnerships, we can build momentum to reduce the digital divide even further.” 👏 Great to see this collaboration between Australian Digital Inclusion Alliance, ARC Centre of Excellence for Automated Decision-Making and Society, RMIT University, Swinburne University of Technology and Telstra. #NSWTelcoAuthority #NSWGovernment #DigitalInclusion #DigitalInclusionStrategy #ADII #AustralianDigitalInclusionIndex #Connectivity #InclusionMatters
Today, we are proud to launch the 2025 Australian Digital Inclusion Index, a collaboration between the ARC Centre of Excellence for Automated Decision-Making and Society, RMIT University, Swinburne University of Technology and Telstra. The Australian Digital Inclusion Index measures how Australians access and use #digital #technologies, factoring in digital #skills and #affordability. The 2025 Index shows Australians’ overall skills and confidence to use digital technologies strengthened, rising 8.7 points between 2023 and 2025 to 73.6. The largest gains were among people aged 75 and over, whose digital ability increased from 23.3 to 41.5, and among those without secondary education, rising from 38.5 to 54.4. While the findings suggest digital #inclusion is improving, about one in five Australians still struggle to fully access, afford and use technology. Read more of our findings and explore our interactive #data in full on our website: https://lnkd.in/g3heKa2

Recently we joined emergency services and government agencies for Exercise Nightfall – a large-scale disaster preparedness simulation in Western Sydney, centred on an airliner crash during severe weather. Alongside Fire and Rescue NSW, NSW State Emergency Service, NSW Rural Fire Service and NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service, we tested how agencies collaborate when communications are disrupted. Our teams supported the exercise, which saw the deployment of technologies designed to keep responders connected in the toughest conditions, including portable Wi-Fi networks, satellite-enabled Cells on Wheels and live video streaming from drones. Exercises like Nightfall are vital for building resilience. They demonstrate how the Public Safety Network and new communications solutions enable emergency services to coordinate more rapidly and effectively – helping protect the people and places of NSW during crises and major disasters. 🎥 See Exercise Nightfall in action: https://lnkd.in/gaD4Y7yF #NSWTelcoAuthority #FireandRescueNSW #FRNSW #EmergencyServices #PublicSafetyNetwork #CriticalCommunications #EmergencyManagement #DisasterPreparedness #KeepingNSWSafe
