In our work, we see firsthand how the online world impacts the children, young people and families we support. That's why resources like 'Let's Talk About Being Safe Online' are so important. This practical guide helps families have those crucial conversations about online safety – covering consent, responsible sharing, protecting personal information and recognising when something doesn't feel right. Educating children and families about staying safe online is one of the most vital steps we can take in preventing online harms, including child sexual abuse. What an energising two days at Australia’s National Loneliness Conference 2025 (#ANLC2025)! Our team was privileged to join leading researchers, practitioners and community voices exploring how Australia can create a culture of connection. A particular highlight was hearing from Professor Julianne Holt-Lunstad, whose groundbreaking work continues to deepen our understanding of why social connection is essential for health and wellbeing. It was also a privilege to hear from Assistant Minister for Social Services, the Hon Ged Kearney MP, about the Government's priorities for supporting a more connected Australia. Throughout the conference, we were proud to share the work of Neighbours Every Day, and to connect with partners who share our commitment to building connection, belonging and neighbourliness across the country. A huge thank you to the team at Ending Loneliness Together, the speakers, and all of our fellow participants for fostering such a rich, solutions-focused conference. Our Executive Manager Regions, Janalie Nelson, recently joined colleagues from the National Relationships Australia Federation and sector leaders in Canberra for the Family & Relationship Services Australia (FRSA) Strategic Leadership Forum. Over two days, delegates engaged in forward-thinking discussions and collaborative sessions focused on the key issues shaping the future of our sector. The forum also included a day at Parliament House, where participants met with Ministers and Senators to advocate for the essential role of child, family, and relationship services in supporting children and families affected by family and domestic violence (FDV). A huge thank you to FRSA for hosting such a meaningful event and for providing a platform to ensure families and children remain at the centre of funding and decision-making. We were delighted this week to participate in a workshop with Future Government Institute and NCS Group Australia on the topic of "Harnessing AI for Social Good". Leaders from across the Relationships Australia Federation came together in Canberra for an insightful and inspiring session, which included a presentation by The Hon. Victor Dominello, and a deep dive into how AI could be used to enhance outcomes for clients across our services, and particularly in the Family and Relationship Services Program. While there is still a lot that remains to be unpacked, and the rapid growth of AI requires ongoing monitoring, it is clear that there are considerable opportunities for the community sector, in its partnership with government, to have an even greater impact for our clients and the communities we serve. #relationships #wellbeing #AI #technology
