One more solution successfully retested to PACT V3 We’re pleased to share that Digital Sustainability Cloud (DSC) has successfully re-tested its solution to the PACT Specifications V3, demonstrating its continued commitment to consistent, comparable, and interoperable carbon data exchange. DSC enables companies to access supplier carbon data through a standardized M2M (machine-to-machine) data exchange format, reducing manual processing time and supporting more accurate Product Carbon Footprint data across value chains. In addition, DSC provides digital tools to help SMEs accelerate their net-zero transition, strengthen supplier engagement, and enhance supply chain operations. Joy is at the heart of PACT - she develops and continuously refines the PACT Methodology, ensuring it evolves with industry needs and remains the backbone of how companies calculate and exchange product-level carbon data. For Joy, the work is as complex as it is rewarding: “I like this work because it’s challenging - it’s not always easy. But the passion and engagement of the people we collaborate with make it worth it. You just absorb their energy.” Chemical engineer by training, Joy not only enjoys solving technical problems, but bringing together people, projects, and ideas across this growing ecosystem: “For me, it’s really about being at the center and trying to bring people together — to build this ecosystem. I really value putting all the dots together and working towards a common goal. A few weeks on, 2025 MIT Sustainable Supply Chain Lab Report reminds us: Sustainability Still Matters The latest MIT report highlights what the PACT community experiences daily: value chain emissions (Scope 3) remain both the biggest challenge and the greatest opportunity. 📊 Key findings: 70% of companies cite supplier data availability as their biggest obstacle in measuring carbon emissions 79% still rely on spreadsheets as their primary Scope 3 tool 56% point to unclear ROI as their biggest barrier to reducing Scope 3 emissions - showing the ongoing tension between motivation and financial justification. 💬 But there’s good news: collaboration works. 80% of respondents report improvements in emissions data quality, supplier alignment, shared expertise, cost efficiencies, and policy influence when working together across industries. From WBCSD Tokyo Connect to CEATEC: Powering Japan’s Carbon Transparency Journey In October, PACT joined partners and sustainability leaders across Tokyo, from WBCSD – World Business Council for Sustainable Development’s Tokyo Connect and Fujitsu, CEATEC Official and IOFDS, to strengthen collaboration on carbon data transparency. Our key takeaways from Japan: 1️⃣ Domestic focus, global relevance: Japan’s Green Transformation (GX) and J-Credit systems dominate the national climate agenda, but companies are increasingly looking for tools that connect domestic reporting with international standards. 2️⃣ Partnership over pressure: Collaboration and trust, rather than compliance pressures, define supplier engagement strategies and drive progress. 3️⃣ Circularity meets transparency: Many Japanese stakeholders see circular data exchange as the next frontier, linking material traceability, recycling, and carbon accounting. 4️⃣ Regional opportunity: With strong ties with countries across APAC, Japan can act as a catalyst for an interoperable and regional carbon-data ecosystem.
