Denver Health’s STEP program provides comprehensive outpatient support for adolescents who are navigating substance use and mental health challenges. STEP therapists specialize in meeting teens where they are and helping them move toward stability, improved coping skills and long-term well-being. Our recent Journeys newsletter story highlights the experiences of two STEP patients, 18-year-old Alaina Walker and 19-year-old Santiago Bayley, pictured here during a therapy session at Denver Health. Both teens entered treatment after years of struggle and both found connection, support and hope through STEP. Today they are working toward healthier futures. In 2024 STEP therapists provided more than 5,300 patient visits across our Outpatient Medical Center and Denver Public Schools school-based health centers. The program remains a critical resource for adolescents across Denver who need timely access to compassionate and specialized support. 📖 Read the full Journeys story: https://lnkd.in/gAYgyttu 👉 For more information visit: https://den.health/STEP

New research led by Denver Health’s Lindsey E. Fish MD, FCUCM, and colleagues from the University of Colorado Anschutz is helping build a clearer picture of COVID-19 recovery. The study followed nearly 10,000 people hospitalized with COVID-19 across Colorado and Utah. The findings offer important insight into long-term outcomes and help guide better post-COVID care for patients. Learn more about the study in the Denver Health Office of Research post below. #DenverHealthResearch #ResearchSpotlight #LearningHealthSystem
🩺 Science is still building the long-term picture of COVID-19 recovery and a new study from Denver Health offers important insight. A multicenter team, including Denver Health researcher Lindsey E. Fish MD, FCUCM and others from University of Colorado Anschutz followed nearly 10,000 people hospitalized with COVID-19 across Colorado and Utah. Among those who survived to discharge, inpatient remdesivir was associated with a 27 percent lower risk of long-term mortality (up to 2.5 years of follow-up), along with fewer rehospitalizations and ED visits. ➡️Understanding which treatments have durable benefits helps us improve post-COVID care and guide clinical decisions long after the initial infection. 🔴🟣 This month, Denver Health's Pavilion A building was lit red and purple in recognition of National Epilepsy Awareness Month. November marks a time to raise understanding and support for the millions of people affected by epilepsy. This year’s theme, “All In,” highlights that everyone has a role in reducing stigma and strengthening support for those living with this condition. Epilepsy affects nearly 3.4 million Americans, meaning 1 in 26 people will develop epilepsy in their lifetime. Although it is the fourth most common neurological disorder, it remains widely misunderstood. Denver Health’s Brooke Gordon Comprehensive Epilepsy Center is accredited as a Level 4 epilepsy center by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers (NAEC). This is the highest ranking and reflects our ability to provide advanced diagnosis and treatment, ensuring exceptional epilepsy care for all patients. Denver Health's Chad K. Bush, MD, neurology epilepsy physician, joined FOX31 KDVR / Channel 2 KWGN to discuss the importance of awareness, diagnosis and support for individuals living with epilepsy. 📽️ Watch the full segment: https://lnkd.in/gzWcV2XA 🧠 Learn more about our Epilepsy Center: https://lnkd.in/g9aJYv3m #NationalEpilepsyAwarenessMonth #BrookeGordonEpilepsyCenter
