  • The Summer Reading Challenge returns this December at all Bayside Libraries, running through to January 2026. The program is open to children and young people up to 18 years of age. Participants can register via Beanstack or visit their local library to get started. By logging completed books, readers will earn a prize for every five books read and unlock bonus badges for activities such as book reviews and school holiday events.   • Bayside Libraries will host a Cloisonné Enamel Workshop with artist Rhonda to support creative skill development, cultural engagement and lifelong learning for community members. Participants will learn about the history and techniques of cloisonné enamel and will be guided through the process of designing and creating their own accessory or decorative piece in a supportive, hands-on setting. The free workshop will be held on Friday 12 December 2025 from 10:30am to 12:30pm at Rockdale Library, 444–446 Princes Highway, Rockdale.   • Bayside Libraries is running English Classes for Adults: Post Beginners (Term 4) at Rockdale Library to help community members feel more confident using English in everyday life. The classes focus on practical listening, speaking, reading and writing skills, using simple conversations, real-life examples and discussion about local places and services in the Bayside area. Sessions are held on Thursdays from 10:00am to 12:00pm at Rockdale Library, 444–446 Princes Highway, Rockdale.   • Bayside Council is committed to preventing family and domestic violence and supporting those affected in our community. As part of this commitment, Council is participating in the global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence from Tuesday 25 November to Friday 10 December 2025. The 16 Days campaign provides an important platform to raise awareness, strengthen prevention efforts and promote access to information, support services and pathways to safety. Bayside’s 2025 program features targeted initiatives, including the Community Walk Against Family and Domestic Violence, the Consent Conversations parent education workshop, the Bystander Training Forum and the Know Your Rights & Stay Safe information session for seniors.   • Bayside Council, in collaboration with the NSW Environment Protection Authority, will host a Chemical CleanOut event this Saturday, 29 November 2025, from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm at Bexley Depot. This initiative provides residents with a safe way to dispose of unwanted or hazardous household chemicals, including paint, oils, solvents, pesticides, pool chemicals, batteries, gas bottles and fluorescent globes.   • Bayside Council will host the Community Walk Against Family and Domestic Violence on Friday 5 December 2025 as part of the global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign. The walk will commence at 7:30am from Ramsgate Life Saving Club, with participants encouraged to wear orange in solidarity with victim-survivors. A community barbecue will follow at Depena Reserve, where Bayside Council, St George Police Area Command and local support services will be available to provide information, resources and referral pathways.   • All residential households, excluding large apartment buildings, will receive two printed calendars this year: the Bin Collection Calendar and the Kerbside Clean-Up Calendar. Deliveries will commence on Monday 24 November and continue through to late January. Residents are encouraged to check their mailboxes during this period.   • Bayside Council has launched a new Customer Service Callback Service to improve contact with the community. If a resident’s enquiry can’t be resolved straight away, they now have the option to request a callback instead of waiting on hold. Their place in the queue is secured, and a customer service officer will return their call from 02 9312 5580 as soon as they’re available.
