Each year, more than 140 million payments are made to NSW Government agencies. Agencies can now offer PayPal as a convenient digital payment option. Under a new whole-of-government agreement between NSW Government and PayPal, this rollout will expand payment choices for people and businesses across sectors like education and health. That means PayPal may be an option for school excursions, families to settle medical bills, and visitors to pay entry fees at state venues, all with a payment method they already use and trust. PayPal is one of Australia’s most popular platforms, and this move reflects NSW’s commitment to modern customer preferences. By aligning with current payment trends, we’re making transactions safer, seamless, & more secure. #NSWTreasury #DigitalPayments #Innovation #CustomerExperience #PayPal

Last week, NSW Treasury was delighted to host a delegation from the Korean Institute of Local Finance (KILF) for a productive discussion on strengthening public finance and learning from each other’s experiences. During the visit we: • Explored the similarities and differences between our respective tax systems, including shared policy challenges and opportunities for reform • Discussed the financing challenges faced by local governments, particularly in delivering high-quality services amid evolving community needs • Shared experiences and insights on supporting local government to fund the vital services and infrastructure that keep communities thriving Engagements like these highlight the value of international collaboration and the exchange of ideas across borders. Thank you to our Korean colleagues for their expertise and interest in the work we do.

This week is International Plasma Awareness Week. The NSW Productivity and Equality Commission’s new paper - Supporting volunteer plasma donation in NSW - has been released today. The paper reveals that NSW can do more to increase donations and create more efficiencies. Find out more at https://lnkd.in/gqQ5vzNG
I’m pleased to share the NSW Productivity and Equality Commission’s new market study - Supporting volunteer plasma donation in NSW - released today. Plasma is a vital ingredient in life-saving medicines used to treat over 50 chronic health conditions and immune deficiencies. With one in three Australians likely to need blood or plasma in their lifetime, demand is rising rapidly, but domestic supply isn’t keeping pace. Currently, Australians provide just 38% of our plasma needs, and NSW has the lowest donation rate of any jurisdiction. To meet demand, we increasingly rely on imports, which the Commission projects could reach 66% of plasma products like immunoglobulin by 2030 - up from just 15% in 2010. This growing import reliance brings higher costs for taxpayers, and more exposure to supply chain risks from sudden import disruptions. The study explores ways to support volunteer plasma donations in NSW. Increasing local donations could help redirect part of the $600 million currently spent on imports to other health priorities. There’s a clear case to act now—it's time to roll up our sleeves. Find out more at https://lnkd.in/gv6aERww
