Will we see you at the inaugural Australian Community Housing National Conference in Canberra next week? We’re excited to sponsor the #ACHCon2025, which brings the community housing sector together under one roof. Catch our Head of Impact Christian-Paul Stenta, on the panel: People, Place and Practice: Tenants at the Heart of What We Do, sharing insights on how we embed #LivedExperience perspectives into our work, from residential service design to new housing developments. As a community housing provider, we deliver end-to-end supported, safe, and appropriate social and affordable housing solutions across Melbourne. But there is still much more to do. We need fit-for-purpose housing that reflects the real and diverse needs of people experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity. Connect with our team at #ACHCon2025 to explore how we can collaborate to address Victoria’s pressing need for more homes. 🏠🤝 Images of Viv’s Place and Bellfield community housing developments: 📷 Viv’s Place communal space: Designed to foster connection and support (image credit: Tatjana Plitt). 📷 Viv’s Place thoughtfully designed interior: Creating a calm, supportive environment (image credit: Tatjana Plitt). 📷 Bellfield exterior: A purpose-built residence offering safety, stability, and new beginnings (image credit: Tom Ross). #CreatingAHomeForAll

  • "We are more scribe than author" – director Jesse Judd on ARM's process that puts Indigenous agency and authorship first. The task, he says, is one of synthesis. "It's our job to come up with a cohesive story that binds all of the views – there can be many – together." Right after it won the world's top Higher Education & Research prize at the 2025 World Architecture Festival, Jesse's presentation of Munarra Centre for Regional Excellence led the case study presentations at this month's The Architecture Symposium: Indigenising our built environment. Jesse names five keys to increasing indigeneity in architecture: 1. Keep turning up to conversations (ARM turned up 70 times) 2. Have confidence in the community's wisdom and the process of engagement 3. Be committed to self determination; strategy and direction will come from community BUT: 4. Never come empty handed. Come with provocations. With humility. And be ready for differences of opinion. And, on hitting milestones: 5. Check that we're right to walk through it, together. ARM is literate in these lessons. We're also literate in getting an outcome, together. It takes generosity, and you can't dilly dally. Design Speaks

  • ARM Director Mark Raggatt is an excellent architect, editor, teacher, curator and critic whose work has earnt him a broad and erudite knowledge in the disciplines of architecture and urban design. He works best where trust paves opportunity for conversation in fun and rewarding ways. And now, he's a Fellow of the Royal Australian Institute of Architects, in honour of outstanding contributions to the profession beyond architectural practice. We couldn't be gladder for him. Mark's contribution to cultural discussion and advancing architectural practice is provocative, generous, and essential. Essential, yes - especially to all of us at ARM, and all the beneficiaries of his professional engagement: the RMIT Architecture Industry Advisory Committee, Government Architect NSW Design Excellence juries, volunteering on the Sydney Diocese Anglican Design Panel, AIA juries and the NSW Editorial Committee, design research and teaching at RMIT University and the University of Technology Sydney, and regular contributions to journals and forums in Australia and abroad. His current research and practice are focused on the roles of design and designer in reconciliation and decolonisation of the built environment in Australia.

  • As Queensland prepares for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the discussion around legacy – what remains after the Games – is gaining fresh currency. With the complexities of delivering multiple projects simultaneously, each with varying procurement methods, overlay requirements, and immovable budgets, the question remains: how can we ensure that legacy is not watered down? 📚Designed by ARM Architecture in 2015, Geelong Library and Heritage Centre is a striking eight-level structure that combines historic influences with cutting-edge, sustainable design. Located in the heart of Geelong, Victoria, its iconic dome and crystalline glass façades pay homage to great reading rooms while embracing a futuristic, organic form. Sustainable features, such as a solar array, water collection system, and energy-efficient systems, contribute to its 5-star Green Star rating. Inside, the Great Wall of Stories invites interaction with books while the space integrates with Johnstone Park and the heritage-listed Monterey Cypress trees. The library serves as a dynamic cultural hub, offering a café, exhibition space, and quiet study areas, making it a key destination for the community and visitors. 🌱 #parametricarchitecture #parametricdesign #landmark #librarydesign

  • As Queensland gears up for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the conversation around legacy—what endures beyond the event—is more important than ever. Delivering multiple projects simultaneously, each with unique procurement pathways, overlay requirements, and fixed budgets, presents immense complexity. But it also offers an unparalleled opportunity. At ARM Architecture, legacy isn’t something left behind, it’s something we build forward. It’s our invitation to ask: what’s possible next? Read our latest article exploring how we can create a lasting, future-focused legacy for Brisbane 2032 and beyond.

✅ East Perth Primary School another step closer ✅ This morning, I announced the awarding of an early contractor involvement tender to CPB Contractors. The builders will commence early works and earthworks, along with working with architects EIW and ARM to provide advice on construction. This inner-city primary school is a huge win for local families, and will help ease enrolment pressure on Highgate Primary School. With a unique vertical design, the four-storey building will initially accommodate 600 students from kindergarten to year 6. The new school is just one of the ways the Cook Labor Government is investing in education and delivering quality infrastructure and services across our State. Find out more below 👇

Perth’s brand new inner-city primary school is another step closer - with a builder now locked in to get construction underway. The builder will begin working with the project's architects to finalise the design - from choosing materials to construction methods - before moving into early works and site preparation. The four-storey school will open in 2029, with capacity for up to 600 students - giving more choice to the growing number of inner-city families and easing pressure on nearby schools. Our kids deserve the best future, no matter where they live, and East Perth Primary School will support generations of WA families for years to come.
