We were proud to have our work on display at the Climate Beacon conference last month held at #ElkusManfrediProject Lyrik Back Bay! Boards and models for Lyrik Back Bay and Emerson College’s Little Building provided a backdrop for networking, conversations and informal panel discussions over the course of the two-day event. Reconnecting the Back Bay and Fenway neighborhoods, Lyrik’s design prioritizes sustainability and occupant health and wellness by pursuing LEED Gold, WELL Gold®, and WiredScore Gold® certifications. Impacts include improved public safety and transit options, a two-level publicly-accessible landscaped terrace offering respite and sunset views, and upgraded infrastructure including all-electric heating and cooling at citizenM that significantly reduces fossil fuel reliance and GHG emissions. In preserving Emerson College’s historic Little Building residence hall in Boston, designers created innovative solutions to complex issues that are informing reuse projects around the country today. Using a hybrid preservation/renovation approach, the design team applied sustainable new technologies and techniques that resulted in adding new space for 285 additional student beds without changing the building’s height or footprint. The Climate Beacon conference introduced attendees to effective models of success and fresh ideas for addressing climate-change challenges. Engaging sessions showcased a wide range of local organizations doing impressive work to advance equitable solutions and community benefits. #ClimateBeacon2025 #ClimateJustice #Sustainability

We had such a great time at Built Environment Plus’ Green Building Showcase a couple weeks ago! There were so many amazing sustainable projects on display and our project 40 Thorndike has won the Sustainable Whole-Building Renovation Award! Certified LEED BD+C Gold, with WELL Gold certification pending, 40 Thorndike, located in Cambridge, MA, is a reinvention of the former Edward J. Sullivan Courthouse into a mixed-use building with over 400,000 sf of lab/office space, 48 affordable rental apartments, a community area, retail and below-grade parking. According to the judges, “This project reinvention is a massive transformation from a brutalist courthouse to affordable apartments and office space. The team’s out-of-the-box thinking created an unexpected community asset that values occupant wellbeing as well as positive climate impact. While the specific situation may not be common, the creativity of the reinvention and the holistic benefits achieved would benefit any renovation.” Congratulations to all involved on this project and to all the winners from this year’s competition! The anticipated completion is 2026. “When residents invest in a property of this caliber in Manhattan, every aspect of their experience should exceed expectations,” said Principal Elizabeth Lowrey FIIDA, RDI. “We are designing amenities and reimagining how these spaces can serve the resident owners and, importantly, strengthen the building’s position in Manhattan’s competitive luxury market.” Read more in New York Real Estate Journal: https://lnkd.in/eREnHJgQ #ElkusManfrediProject #interiordesign #refresh #MadisonSquareParkTower
