Thank you Metropolis Magazine for recognizing the Trinity University Business & Humanities District with a 2025 Metropolis Planet Positive Award, showcasing sustainability, health and wellbeing in the built environment. The district was designed to merge 11 departments and form a vibrant interdisciplinary core on Trinity University's campus featuring two renovated historic mid-century modern buildings and the new mass timber Dicke Hall. As a gateway to the district and broader campus, Dicke Hall pays homage to Trinity’s design heritage while expressing the university’s commitment to innovation in liberal arts education and environmental stewardship. The new Dicke Hall reduces embodied carbon by 52% and energy use by 90% compared to similar buildings. The overall transformation expanded the district’s area by 42% with less than a 1% increase in total campus energy use. Thank you to The New York Times and Tim McKeough for featuring our Point Dume Residence. Designed as a series of pavilions nestled within the landscape, the home reflects Jennifer Kell and Dominic Surprenant’s vision for living in constant connection with nature. Framed in steel and glass, and softened by wood, light, and stucco, the architecture invites movement between open courtyards and interior rooms—without a traditional front door to define what’s inside or out. As Steve Raike shared with the Times, “Even in harsher climates, integrating with nature and allowing the home to connect to nature is a really important element of what we do.” Point Dume embodies that ethos, balancing openness, resilience, and the ease of California coastal life. Thanks to Bloomberg News for featuring the new Cedar Park Public Library among the next generation of libraries redefining what it means to be a civic hub—revitalizing downtowns and inspiring community life. As the first building in the City of Cedar Park's new Bell District, the library serves as both anchor and catalyst—the heartbeat of a vibrant, 50-acre walkable destination. Designed as the city’s front porch, the Cedar Park Public Library is more than a library: it’s a third place, connecting The Backyard, a new 16-acre public park, with the district’s emerging residential, retail, and office destinations. The library’s success is evident in how the community has embraced it. In its first six months of opening, the library welcomed 330,000 visitors—matching the former library’s busiest year in recent history—and daily attendance now averages 2–5× higher than the previous facility. We’re honored to see this community landmark recognized with the 2025 ULI Austin Best Public Project Award, demonstrating the importance of thoughtfully designed civic spaces for the future.
